Denzel - The hard truth of the matter is that, unless you had an agreement in writing, "At-will" means either the company OR yourself can terminate that employment relationship for any reason, or no reason.

As someone else has suggested, this might be a great opportunity in disguise. As you have experience in hiring and operating your own, good-size, crew, it might be time to look at the possibility of going independent and being your own boss, and operating your own plumbing business.

Heck, going that route, your 'boss' is highly unlikely to fire ya! Though, 'he' (you) may yell at ya more than anyone else! Well, if you're married... LOL.

Best of luck in your future endeavors and please keep us informed of how things are progressing. A door closing often means another is opening. The best part is YOU get to choose if and when you step through that next door.
