Reaction Poll: Is pay the most important in a job?

I was talking to my younger brother about our experiences in the workforce and what we care about when applying for jobs. He just turned 25, part of the famous Gen Z, and although he cares about the highest paying jobs, he also prioritizes companies with proven track records in social commitments. This conversation got me thinking, we spend most of our awake time at work, so of course we care about more than just pay. I've always prioritized working for companies where I can help people. Now as a mom, working for companies that allow me to be present in my kids' life is just as important as being able to help people. What's important to you in a job? What makes you excited about a job opportunity besides the actual job?

💖 Pay, that has always been most important to pay the bills

💯 Active actions towards beneficial social causes

👏🏽 Commitment to employee wellness, physical and mental

It truly depends on how one sees it.

  • The salary is regarded as one of the most important factors when making a choice between jobs.
  • When choosing a career, personal fulfillment is more important than salary.

So, which one would be more important to you? ...

My take on.job hunting is to remember you are interviewing the company as well. Make sure you understand the company's mission and vision and how.you would be asset to the company.

If you ❤ what you do for a living then it is not a job and nothing else matters, pay is important but, purpose, passion, heart, joy, fulfillment that is what matters most 💖

Have you ever heard of the old saying it gets greater later so sometimes you just have to wait on the salary part and go further learning in and being a better employee and what you’re going to get out of it in the long run if you get what I’m saying and you don’t want to just be like oh yeah you know I’m gonna get this money but it’s not about that you got actually think about 401(k)s and stuff like that what’s going to happen when you’re gone you know all these things you have to apply

The job is more important than the pay. I can't do any job just because the pay is good. I must be interested in the product, the job, etc, otherwise I cannot do it. When I was younger, I would leave one job for another that was paying more, regardless of the duties as long as I was able to do the job. Now, that is not the case. I have to love what I do. There is no amount of money that would make me accept a job that does not satisfy my intellect nor my interests. For example, I know I want to work remotely, make a certain amount of money and have the ideal schedule for me. Well, I got that, and two days in, I knew this job was not for me because I had absolutely no interest in financial protection, providing 100% scripted customer service dialog -- robotically and mindlessly repeat the same script over and over and deliver it with sincerity each time.

I am a senior and unfortunately, I do need to work but my values and needs are different .

It’s human equal rights with me , I want to part of a team and actually to be treated the right ways just like others , respect and happiness and most importantly to be able to hold on to a job where I’m accountable for the duties I’m doing

My highest expectation from any employer would first be respect. No matter my position from office cleaner to an Administrator. Believe me I have had jobs with both titles and if I am not respected I am looking for another position. With mutual respect an employee can one day become an employer. Without respect the only placed an employee can hope to go is unemployed.
