As with any job there are good days and bad. There are great customers and customers who you wish you never have to wait on ever again. We take the goo with the bad and in most cases the good wins out. Anyone applying for retail or grocery store cashier can in no way think this will be a desk job. You are constantly on your feet. If that i something you do not like, then there is no reason to apply for that type of work.
Once you begin to constantly criticize or find fault with the company you are working for it's either time for a vacation or a time to begin looking for a new job.
Many people get caught up in the "this job owes me for my good work". Yes! They do. They owe you a paycheck, a safe working environment, and a clear set of goals and standards for your particular position.
You can also consider other less labor intensive positions that they company has. I am pretty sure that Kroger had office positions, technology positions, human resources, safety, etc.. There are usually tons of positions that you can explore right in your very own company. Never close yourself in a box. Stay fresh and relevant with your industry... Take classes, read industry magazine articles, etc., so that when a position opens you are well-qualified and ready. Good luck

I just left my job at Kroger a few months ago because I felt like I was back in high school. The lead of my department was paranoid, thought everyone was out to get her so she continually whined to upper mgmt and wrote people up for any and everything. It was awful. And yes, the pay absolutely sucks. Kroger would be good as a first job for a teenager OR a college student working part time to supplement their income. But I am a single mom and couldn't live off of it. Plus the drama all the time was totally not worth my time.

My 20 yr old daughter worked at Kroger for almost 2 yrs. she did a great job and worked the late shift 5 pm to 1 am because no one else would one costumer came in one night and was just a total a$$ to her because she did not get him the right cigs for him even though she tried to get the right ones he yelled at her said bad words to her and other things he told her he was going to get her fired she said ok and sorry well he got his whole family to say mean thing about her to the manager the result they fired her without hearing her side of the story she is in College and was when she worked there I say do not work for Krogers and not all jobs are that way I have been a Cashier for 20+ years and I never got treated like that

There is not a Kroger where I live

Are there any open positions ?

Never run cashier before, but I will try anything, day or night

I heard u dont get treated good at krogers pay of course sucks u try request time off n they dont give it to u

All retail is the same, your pretty much on your feet all day, whether it is at the fitting room or behind the counter. only one retailer I know the cashiers sit., and its Aldies.

For the most part retail is retail. I have worked from bottom up and it's in my blood and it's what I know.
