It all depends on the job and also the state. Having both will me great for pay scale.

I didn't have but have 4 years total job history and be willing to take training.

The requirements for positions within a child care program vary based on title, locality and state. What title position are you considering and what city ? NYC requires extensive screenings, training and certifications. The level of education and the required number of hours for specific types of training depends on the position. All child care positions require that all staff having contact with children be fingerprinted for a criminal background record check, child abuse registry screening, CPR/first aide certification at a minimum. Child care centers are required to be licensed by the NYC Department of Health and family day care homes are regulated by the state.

Hey Dorothy, this Jobcaser has some great advice for you. Here's the link to his convo: https://www.jobcase.com/conversations/f6acbc5c-80b7-55de-ba99-93e48de433d1

No they will work with you if it is in progress

While most reputable day care centers will require you to have the 90 hour CDA and CPR for infants and children, you will also be given on the job training at those same centers. The certificate is just the beginning. The ojt is to keep your skills honed. If you want a career in child care, go for your certification if you can. The tech schools offer courses as well as some school districts in their adult ed or continuing ed programs.

Depends on the state- in Utah, only the Director needs to meet that requirement as required by the State, as they are all licensed. If you want to teach or take care of infants, I don't believe you do. The employer is probably required to provide ongoing training and meet whatever state criteria is required for continuing education.

Some day care want you to have the certifications, some college credit into child development before applying to them. And others will help you get the training that is needed. Daycare centers will pay the training, but that could be in your area or an hour away. Daycare in schools, they want you to have a plan, or to be in college working on your child development.
I have learned this, and have been through it all in the past. If this helps, please let me know. My email is: minniekpearl@gmail.com
