Chronicles of My Walmart Application and Job Interview Journey, (Directors Cut)!

THIS is a short summary the typical #Walmart #JobApplication and Interview selection process based on my recent Walmart application experience. FIRST Walmart Interview Question I was asked, “Describe a time when I went above and beyond to provide customer service”. It sounds like a standard interview question that you can get away answering with any general customer service experience but Walmart interviewers are looking for a detailed step-by-step account of what YOU did to turn a bad customer experience into an Awesome customer service experience. EXPRESS Yourself clearly at all times and add your personal insight & philosophy on excellent customer service during the interview. Don’t be afraid to inject your thoughts and ideas on what it takes to be a good customer service employee. Remember the Walmart application and Interview process is all about identifying what makes you the best Customer Service candidate. Like helping people? Prove it!! TAKE PERSONAL INVENTORY, Know Thyself, and be ready to explain how you can transition previous job duties and experiences to the task and responsibilities of the Walmart job you're applying for. Example: “I feel that my previous experience as the OSHA Compliance Officer and Inventory Specialist for my department makes me an excellent candidate for the Walmart Overnight Maintenance position. EMPHASIZE your focus on the Big Picture and use career-oriented statements in your questions and answers. The Managers I spoke with began their Walmart Careers at entry level positions like cashiers and quickly promoted to leadership roles from within. Make sure you share your interest to grow within the Walmart Family; but only if it’s Sincere!!

I did a phone interview yesterday 7-17-19 with a Walmart person. He asked for my experience and I started to give him a list of my achievements. He stopped me and back tracked to a lesser job I have performed. Then isolated that one thing with out letting finish with the rest of my experience. Tried to let him know of other experience and he refused to listen. Stating I said that one thing first. At that moment I thought I was talking to a 12 year old red neck. My lesson learned with this? There HR people are simple minded and can’t perform there duties to the fullest. I wonder on how many possible good employees there passing up on? One for sure.

I was told that I would be able to get in another department if I passed pathways and I did but they said no. That's not fair.

It's a coicidence that you posted this today on earth day. It is the day I started at Walmart. My mother was a shopper. She was a city girl who loved retail. She'd always take me to stores. My favorite was Ben Franklins. Well many years later I find myself a grown woman on base with a husband having been deployed. It was earth day. And Walmart was running a contest. How to save the world was the title. They simply said prizes. So I entered. At the time I had home day care with a group of small children. As a project I got out a piece of paper and began encouraging the children to participate with suggestions on how to save the world. Some of the ideas was plant a tree. A tree provided life for animals and fuel and even medicine. Some of the ideas was limit the miles you drive or car pool.we worked on this all week until we had no more room for suggestions then we turned it in. I was surprised our essay won first place. The prize a sapling tree a pair of kaki pants and blue shirt and a job at Walmart. I worked as a float in all departments. The safety committee I felt was one of the most important. Although I also repaired watches stocked pharmacy hardlines and soft lines. We planted the tree at the school. My children played under it. It grew to be beautiful. It is a giving tree planted on earth day. My daughter didn't recognise it when she graduated but I did. My son sat under this same tree when he graduated years later. And me? I think the most important thing I did was helping someone pick up an over the counter medication late at night. I couldn't have done it without Walmart and Walmart has been there for me when I needed them too.
