Confused
I work for a very large Hospitality Corporation where each department has it's own hierarchy. I work in the Environmental Services Department for a very Large Casino in the city in which I live, The lady that I work closely with and has the position directly above mine was given a 2 page document from our department's director. This new director has not been with our company for a year yet, He put her on a 90 day probationary period and She has been a loyal and faithful employee for over 26 years and has a stellar record with no disciplinary actions taken in the past. I am concerned because I am also a loyal and faithful employee who has served the company as well and has also been with the company the same length of time. (26 Years) , (We work the graveyard shift) What should be the course of action that we should take? What rights do we have as employees in having expectations of our new director and what conversations or subjects should we discuss with our chain of command. The notice of intent of a 90 day probationary period is not deemed necessary after so many years of service in our industry. What should we be pursuing in our attempt to keep serving the company or shall we look for employment elsewhere. (We do not want to throw 26 years of Service down the drain.) Please advise. Thank You!!
Teresa Cooper There is no action you can take. Any employee can be placed on probation regardless of their time with a company. The director has concerns about your supervisor's job performance and has addressed those with her -- and has allowed her the opportunity to improve over the next 90 days. This should be taken as a wake-up call for each of you on her team to improve in every way you can. Be grateful for your jobs -- and for a director willing to give you a chance to demonstrate your value to the organization.
