Brianna...every position in any organization is important to them. As Receptionist, you will be the first voice they hear when they call and the first face visitors and clients see. For your interview, research the company, take a few notes and study them. Usually part of the interview will be why you want to work here/what interested you in applying. You can answer intelligently by saying you visited their website before applying and found "this" very pertinent to your career goals.

Be pleasant, but not phony. Also, speak up and enunciate your words so that you are easily understood. (Dress well)

In my years of being a receptionist I was the go to & the therapist, where staff would feel comfortable with telling me there issues & vent about work or other staff. You should always maintain professionalism and depending on the company & the nature of your job description included with the basic tasks of a receptionist All the above answers are correct and I would include if asked how you would deal with an irate or unpleasant customer, be a good listener as they appreciate that someone is attentive to their concerns, express that you are sorry for their inconvenience & depending on the policies of the company write down their concerns that can be answered by the right party or perhaps you can send them to the right party to get facts that will help resolve the issue. Never assume you have the answers to sooth their frustration as it will back fire on you, it’s always best to tell them I will find out who can resolve the matter have an answer for you. Good Luck on your interview.

Ready to work from home! I even have my own equipment if necessary.

Providing excellent customer service should always be your number one priority. Yes computer skills and the ability to multitask are also important, but none of those things will matter if you don't make sure your customers are happy. When you interview for the position be sure to emphasize that you care about your customers and plan to go above and beyond to ensure they have a great experience when doing business with the company. At the end of the day if they're not happy they probably will not keep coming back, without customers there is no business.

Receptionist Legal Asst at White Graham Buckley Carr Llc

Working for a law firm for over 16 years, one of the things that is the most important part of being a receptionist is, understanding that you are the first person someone talks to and you are the first person someone sees, you are the face and voice of the company you work for. Remembering that is very helpful. You want to be your best even when life is difficult, and also remembering when you talk to someone, or when someone comes in to the office, you have no idea what that person has been going through. Treat people with kindness, always.
