Why did you quit?
Interesting little article claiming the 1 reason people quit is when they feel disrespected. Have you quit an employer before? If so, why? What advice would you give to a fellow Jobcaser who is thinking about quitting today?

Don't cut your nose off to spite your face.
Don't ever quit your job till you have another one lined up.
In the long run when you quit with an I'll show them" attitude you don't show the employer anything you just put yourself out of work. You loose income over a bruised ego.

People quit for different reasons. I would say for me the number one reason was a toxic work environment. Management by threat never works. Try to find a place where your work and contributions are valued. It's hard in these times, but I still believe there are places out there where this holds true.

I've quit most jobs because of lack of advancement opportunities, but years ago I quit my job as a cook at 'Friendly's' because I was lied to about never being scheduled by myself alone on weekends, lied to about my pay rate, and sexualy discriminated against. Is Friendly's even still in business? I kinda hope not.

Disrespect, don't care about you. Unfortunately, I was there for 10 years before I left. Also, I was making what someone off the street would make as well.

I feel the best reasons to leave a job is you have relocated, have become Sick long term, or have become injured like Cynthia had mentioned or your not Challenged anymore.

I was injured on the job (sprain lumbar) I was cleared to return to work in 2 weeks with minimal restrictions (I could still do my job) they never called me back and told workers comp I never worked there and they never gave me my last pay check. I didn’t quit I wasn’t fired I was erased so they could protect themselves. I loved that job. I worked there 3 seasons. I was the first girl hired in 40 years and the very first female supervisor.

Quit because my Active Duty spouse got assignment orders overseas - conveniently, her assignment came up just as the contract I was on was lost due to being severely underbid. People were taking 20-30% pay cuts to return to the same desk they had been sitting at for 5 years. This was about a year after sequestration occured and available jobs in the DC area were scarce - you either took the pay cut, went unemployed, or switched to another field. I liked the people I worked with but hated the job.

people quite because of frustration

You are right but your co worker must have respect for you as well it came from both side. Today managers cane out of universaty and never did the work from the bottom to the top , then they are arrogant and demand respect. I was assaulted by a stranger because of a manager that dont respect people. I am now death in both my ears because of him that is why I quit he did not even respect himself. I fogive him for that and go on with my life.
I have ptsd and was put on disability , however we’ve retained my goals and drive to make it through anything!
