Tired of the corporate offices

When I first stated at this company it was a family oriented feel to it. Then it was bought out by other company. We moved to a better building and then everything changed. I was hired to do filing. It took them a year to hire me as an employee and finally gave me other opportunities to do more. I worked on AP and then they came to me to ask if I could help out with the AR dept. I did everything they asked me to do. And made less then everyone in the dept. Even the new hires made more than me. When they told me that they didn’t need my help in AR anymore they put me back to AP and limit my work load. I was out for my son’s surgery in which I had doctor notes and vacation time to cover. I fall going into the dept and hit my head on the metal door frame. I had an concussion in which I was back to work the next day in fear of losing my job. In which I had doctors notes to be out of work for 2 days with the concussion. I got a cold in which it turned into walking pneumonia and again I had a doctors note and also vacation time to cover and they still let me go! I am so tired of these companies saying they put families first...These corporate...all about the money....They forget who are the REAL people who do the work!

I wish I could find a company that would put their employees first. Understand that a mother is a mother first...Understand that a person’s health is important.

The minute companies start to lessen your workload that is usually a bad sign. I know you don't agree with the layoff but it happens. When companies start crunching the numbers and financially are not where they need to be, they will make cuts. This has nothing to do with you, its a necessary part of life. Continue to grow your skills and seek employment elsewhere. Where I work the bookkeeper was informed that his position was being eliminated. They are giving the person three months to find other employment. The person was very upset as they have been with the company for over three years. The person is a great employee however they need someone who can function as an assistant controller, the person is not ready. Two things I learned from this. I don't care how old you are or how long you have been at a position, you need to keep learning, you need to keep growing. I never thought that administrative assistants would never be in demand but guess what since about twenty years ago, that position has basically dried up. Sorry to hear you were laid off, revamp your resume and an your skill set. Continue to learn and grow and at your next job, it they pay you don't work for free.

Hi Patricia Carter ! I am so sorry that all of those things seemed to happen right at once. I am also sorry that the company did not better support you when you needed them. I would suggest in the future to avoid working for an uncaring company to ALWAYS check out the company's culture first. Here is [how] (https://www.jobcase.com/conversations/d98a6946-b042-5278-8899-45b1326fd186)! I also would take the time to read past employee reviews to get a sense of the company as well as look at their website and their mission statement. Ask yourself, do I want to work for them? How will I be valued? Is this worth my time and energy? Keep applying you can do this!
