Be Honest! What caused the gap? Do you feel you need refresher courses? Can you still perform the same duties. Are you still interested in your prior field. What brings you back to the workforce. Do you see another long term gap if you are hired? What is your age? Be prepared to HONESTLY answer these questions. Be open minded to feedback. Be Determined to Get Back On Track!!

So you had to take care of someone that was sick and they found another caretaker and you want to start working again if you want them to really let that go say they died and they’ll feel bad and probably just hire you

The reason for the big gap in my resume is that I worked at MBNA and they were bought out. They didn’t keep on most employees who had been 15 years plus. Also, my mother took to a serious illness and needed my my family needed my assistance. Unfortunately she last 6 mos and passed away. Then my daughter had her first child and I started babysitting. Be quite honest I still babysit for my 3 grandchildren. I hope this clears up the reason for the gap.

I have 10 years gap and still looking for a job related to my skills. Honestly, a lot of companies are adamant to have that huge gap but others are ok, as long as you are doing some training or certifications to keep you updated.

It depends on why really. I would suggest spinning it the best you can.
