#1099 Employee # Postmates
My son works for Postmates and while I want him to get a career, he is happy and productive with what he is doing . He has submitted his resume for the Community Manager's position in his area: 1. He has been with the company for a year 2. He has not only recruited new team members, but new restuarants ( they are a delivery service in 40 US markets, based in San Fran) without a thank you or any acknoledgment. He is flustrated and cannot figure out why he was not even give an interview ( even if it was only out of courtsey). What should his next step be? This is a company who has little or no communication with their staff especially the drivers who "drive the profits of the company". Thanks

Oh man, that's such a tough position to be in! I used to be a 1099 worker, and I found it difficult to get interviews when I first started by search for a W-2 type of job. I think it's all in how you word your resume. I don't know what your son has on his, but make sure that his resume balances his achievements at his job alongside his efforts to be a team player. Also, does he follow up on the applications he's submitting? That can be key for getting the ear of a hiring manager.
