We ran out of crowns!!!!
I don't have kids, but I remember this time when I worked for Burger King and this little girl really wanted a paper crown. We always have em. Well I went to go get one and I couldn't find any. Somehow the shipment of paper crowns had been ruined or got lost, I can't recall exactly. I just remember staring into the eyes of this 7 year old who had the saddest look I had ever seen. Her mom told me she had been very sick this past year and this was her special place to visit because of the playground and of course the "princess crowns." I felt so awful. Well we had a Dollar Tree right across the street so I after I rang them out I told her I would be right back. I asked my boss and he gave me the ok. I raced over and asked the salesperson if they had any princess crowns. She gave me this funny look and then went towards the back. She grabbed some pink glittery thing from the birthday section of the store and I was off. I will never as long as I live forget her face. It lit up and to her she was a real princess that day. Her mom told me she would probably never take it off. They both hugged me. Sometimes you gotta think on your toes when you need to solve a problem.

Lotz of Times thinking on your toes can end up with your thumb up your @$$$

Your comment of thinking on my toes to make it all work makes me laugh. I had a few of them at a big hotel I worked at. One in particular was and old couple had been eaten in the restaurant I was serving in and all the wheelchairs apparently were checked out and there was no Wheelchairs and their room was on the 3rd or 4th floor I can't remember and the lady couldn't walk anymore she could barely walk to the cash register let alone up to a room and a large Hotel it was late at night and housekeeping had gone home. concierge was on a airport pick up and no one knew what to do. I seen one of the luggage racks where you throw all your luggage on to. I grabbed one of those and told her to hop on and I will get her up to her room. We laughed as her purse was hanging from the hook swinging back and forth. Her husband profusely thanked me with tears welling up in his eyes. It gave me one of those warm fuzzy feelings and it really wasn't all that big of a deal. I recently thought of the story couple weeks ago as we had an old man in our Casino who feel asleep at a table and believed possibly he was or could of been ill. and complained of being cold but we were closing and he was told he had to leave. me being concerned for him thinking he possibly could have been diabetic went threw a Cook's coat into the dryer that we had in the back and security help walk him out. The old man handed me the keys to his car me not thinking about it went and grabbed his car blasted up the heat and brought it up front to the handicap spot then security helped walk hom to his vehicle still.complaining he was shaky and cold. when I came back in I got scolded because of the legality aspect of the whole situation. Mod told me if someone were to fall I couldn't even try to grab them to attempt to break their fall although I completely understand the legality aspect of the incident after the fact because I wasn't thinking about legalities when I went to pull up his car all I could think of was the humanity of not being able to help a person break their fall and how shity that was and thought about that incident with the old couple back at the hotel. As I left Casino after I did my closing work the old man was still out in his car I tapped on the window and asked him if he was okay and he waved me off but he didn't look like he was doing okay I waited out my car for about another 20 more minutes and he still won't move so I called the ambulance to do a well check on him and they took him to the hospital. Even though I got in trouble for the old man I still would have done the exact same thing I couldn't live with myself knowing we should have been old man out the door who was struggling medically and couldn't barely make it to his own car
