Not true at least in Nevada and Georgia. Many warehouse associates have little to no previous experience.

Warehouse Associate at Capstone Logistics

Little to no experience. However the more you know about warehousing can get you a higher paying position. Example if you are qualified to operate a forklift or reach truck will pay higher than if you have no experience.

Depending on the job most companies will train you, as long as you can read a tape measure that's what a lot of companies care about in their safety policies.

Hello Oscar, Remember, you have to start somewhere, so if this type of work is something that you are interested in, pursue it.
I have been in the shipping and warehouse industry for over 20 years. The key is to express your interest in the industry and the willingness to learn. Tip, when interview casually remind the interviewer that everyone has to start somewhere. Then, kind of suggest that with the experience that he or she has would be a great benefit to someone like you starting out, that they would be a great mentor for you, and would train you with their experience and knowledge to lead you in the right direction. I actually enjoy teaching new team members the ropes of the business, for one, they haven't developed any bad habits that could risk the safety of their fellow team members. You got this, one foot in front of the other. Tip...never rush while using equiptment, as forklifts, overhead cranes, sissor lifts, or even pallet jacks. The risk of injury and/or damage to the product is to high. Plus, shipping errors or receiving errors...inventory can be very costly in this industry. Good Luck,

Robert B.

Typically, a Warehouse Associate job may require 1-3 years of experience. However, there may be opportunities for individuals with various levels of experience. To explore job openings, I recommend checking job search platforms like Jobcase, as well as other providers such as Indeed and LinkedIn. Good luck with your job search!
