Would you rather...?

Would you rather work at a huge company where you are just a number and it’s filled with crappy people BUT you make GOOD money....

or would you rather work at a smaller company filled with kind, awesome people, but make way less?

Just wondering, I have a big decision to make this week. I am SUPER happy I have choices, but I just don’t want to make the wrong one.

Thanks for the help guys!!

IMO doesn't matter how much $ you make - if your co-workers make it miserable to be at work you will feel like you're in hell. No one likes to wake up and DREAD going to work. You would want to work in a positive work environment with good people and a good support system. You would wake up and look forward going to work. The $ will follow. This depends on what is your priority right now. Top Dollar or Top Work Team? Sometimes you do get both but that takes time with the company. So with that patience may pay off. Good Luck

Been there/ done that, just a couple of thoughts. Years ago I was working with the largest alarm company in the world ADT. The corporate was at 1 World Trade Center in NY, but I was in Indiana. Corporate didn't even know they had a branch in Muncie, IN. A few years later I worked at 84 Lumber (600 locations) the corporate was in 84 PA. The people at corporate didn't even know where Indiana was. I can only say that 13.5 years of my career was at a company of 25 people. I currently work for a company of 45 people. My experience has been that if you are really good, you can make as much in the small companies, as you do in the large companies. Large companies are impersonal, so they go by time, so you can be really good, but you will be paid on length of employment. Smaller companies give you more direct access to ownership, and when an owner of a company is high on you, they will pay for you to stay. Remember, the key is to be good at what you do. If you are not that good, go to a large company, as it is much easier to hide your lack of skills. Good Luck...

Personally, I would rather work at a great company than a terrible one that pays me more, but you need to do what is right for yourself Lisa.

I just know myself, and I know that I would rather be in a better work environment than have more money. Some people might feel differently and that's ok too. Chances are if you take the job where there are "crappy" people you might not wind up wanting to stay, so the paycheck might not be worth it.

When all else fails, make a list of ALL the pro's and the cons of both jobs and see which one is longer ; )
