Struggling to get through to your state’s unemployment office?

Interested in talking to the media?

I work with the Jobcase public relations team and we have a reporter from Business Insider doing a story around unemployment insurance—she’s interested in talking with Jobcase members struggling to get through to their state’s unemployment office. Please respond only if this applies to you, and only if you approve being contacted by Business Insider.

This would likely be a minimal time investment--perhaps a 15-minute call with Business Insider, or whatever you can offer. If interested please share your location, occupation and a brief overview of your story. We’ll email you with more information on the opportunity.

Business Insider would love to hear from the Jobcase community, and it's a great potential opportunity to share your story, advocate for workers like yourself and boost your work profile!

Responding to me does not guarantee you'll be contacted or be included in a Business Insider article. #coronavirus #unemploymentinsurance #unemploymentoffice

I’m in Louisiana and I filed for unemployment as my hours have been cut. The max UI is $247 a week - plus the $600 I make $300 a week after my hours have been cut..... so I have not gotten a dime from unemployment here in Louisiana - I cannot get anyone on the phone. I have emailed the governors office, I have emailed unemployment office twice. And still I have gotten nothing. People are making double the money I get working part time, I would be happy if they just paid me my wages I’m loosing out on... I get paid bi-weekly. The state has told us to continue to file - but how long does or should it take, it is almost two months now since I have filed and have not gotten anything. But I can bet my last dollar my employer is going to make out like fat cats for keeping us on the payroll - even if they cut our hours Sad and depressed here in Louisiana

Registered Dental Assistant

I live in NJ and my dental office closed due to COVID-19. I filed on 3/15/20. Received unemployment next week, no problem. For 2 weeks I got unemployment but it wasn’t enough to cover my bills. So I got a part time job at Amazon. (This was before the $600 extra a week announcement.) So for the next 2 weeks I got partial unemployment. Last week when I filed my weekly claim, it said since I went back to work, I would have to reopen a claim. So I filled out the questionnaire. (Unemployment website says you can still work part time and collect unemployment.) Status says ‘filed’ - with date I first filed (3/15/20). And has an amount I received 2 weeks ago. Can’t get through on phone. (Always says to call the next day.) So I emailed.. Got an email back several hours later stating basically nobody is checking emails so best to keep checking status online. (Which I’ve been doing.) Email also said to continue to claim weekly benefits on my day to file which is Wednesday. This week I got no unemployment or the extra $600. I’m not expected to go back to either job any time soon. Unemployment status has said the same thing since last Wednesday- (3/15/20 ‘Filed’ and an amount I received 2 weeks ago and says next payable week is 4/25/20- which I haven’t received anything.) I just don’t know why I was told to reopen a claim since nothing has changed? And it’s so frustrating not being able to talk to a live person. So now I’m out of work, no $, and no clue when I’ll get unemployment again or even go back to work...
