Is now the time to ask for a promotion?
I work for an Amazon warehouse and it seems like my job is safe, despite the coronavirus thing going on. I think a lot of people are going to be entering the industry because it is a job that is always needed.
If a lot of new people start soon -- do you think now is a good time to ask for a promotion or raise?? I've been here for 4 years....

if you have been there that long then you would know the right time for a promotion is always before prime or peak

If Lisa is correct about the retroactive pay raise then great - but still try for the promotion

Amazon began paying employees an additional $2 an hour retroactive to March 15. The announcement was made yesterday.

You would be better off asking for a promotion than trying to twist out a raise from them. I have done business with Amazon before and it is a one way street with them. Try for the promotion first - expound on how much you know your job and valuable you’d be with new employees coming in. Even Amazon will be affected by this virus and business issues / if no promotion then you could ask about whether you will be earning more money with all of the new employees coming in. Good Luck !

Hey. You've got the boss over the barrell. There's no better time to ask for either a raise, or more money in your base pay. If the shoe was on the other foot, your ass would be gone yesterday....
Asking for a promotion is better. Best wishes to you.
