How to search for the best job for YOU (on Jobcase)!
Jump to section

December 2020 updates

It can be tough out there, but the key to job searching is knowing what you want and how to go after it. Let’s take a look at some ways to help you search for the best jobs for yourself here on Jobcase!

Avoid applying to just any role

An important part of the job search process is to figure out which roles you want to apply for and those that fit within your skillset. When you are applying for a job on Jobcase (or online in general) you may discover a few different roles at the same company that interest you (and you are qualified for).

Avoid applying to every single job within that company and stick to 1-2 roles MAX otherwise, you will give out the impression that you will do anything, which seems desperate and isn't desirable to an employer. If you do see multiple roles and aren't sure which ones to apply for, check to see if there is an opportunity for growth within that role. Ask yourself, will there be raises or promotions? Where will this job take me in a few months or years? Take your time to find the right role!

Search for work from home jobs

Working from home IS possible! Now more than ever there is a great need for remote workers (especially in customer service). There is a filter on Jobcase that you can apply to search for work from home opportunities. Simply click “Remote work only” up in the very top left-hand corner. Then the results will show you work from home roles that are available.

As you look for opportunities on Jobcase there are many ways you can filter right to the results that you want. First, consider changing the distance from your chosen city. This will open up more opportunities! It ranges from 50 miles away to 5, so whether you want a longer commute or a shorter one you can check out a wider range of options to pick from!

You can also look for jobs within your specific experience level as well as for a company with the click of a box. This will save you time scrolling through a large number of postings and help narrow your search down by providing more customized results.

Hang in there

They say searching for work is a full-time job and it can certainly feel that way. Make sure to keep going! The holidays can also add additional stress so remember to take deep breaths and allow yourself time to re-boot. Consider posting in the community if you feel down, have a question, or just need some support. It's what we are here for! You can also take a break from searching and read something uplifting in the #motivation topic from other members to help push yourself forward.

Update (or create) that resume

Did you know that all you need to do to create a resume is to fill out your Jobcase profile? It's easy, fast and once you have your resume online you can access it at any time! Spend 10-15 minutes completing each section here. Once you are finished head over to the resume tab and it will show you a preview of how your resume will look. When you feel it is updated and ready to go click download and your resume will download as a PDF and is all set to send to employers! Learn more about what you should include in your resume.

Ashley, this is Scott Towns in Sunnyvale, Calif and I don't drive. So I could only take jobs where I could get there by public transportation.
