FedEx Benefits Job Applicants Should Know About
Jump to section

FedEx delivers to more than 220 countries and territories. That makes it a leading name in the e-commerce and e-business world. From online retailers to multinational companies, FedEx has the experience and infrastructure to deliver your parcels on time.

Besides offering brilliant service, FedEx is also a great place to work, partly due to its benefits for employees.

Those working at FedEx are offered a wonderful benefits package to support themselves and their families.

Why are employee benefits important?

Employee benefits are a form of compensation that helps attract, retain, and engage employees. Benefits may include health insurance, dental and vision coverage, 401(k) savings plans, and more. Here are some reasons employers offer these perks:

  • Retain top talent: With the recent Great Resignation, it has become more critical than ever for employers to offer competitive benefits to keep their best employees from leaving for other companies.

  • Engage employees: Employee benefits help engage employees by incentivizing them to remain with the company and perform their best. Benefits can also attract high-quality job candidates.

  • Improve employee satisfaction: Any company that wants to improve its employee satisfaction should focus on providing benefits that employees value. Benefits that employees commonly value include health insurance, retirement savings plans, and paid time off.

  • Build a positive company culture: Employee benefits also create a positive company culture, making employees feel appreciated. This can lead to employees being more productive and efficient while being less likely to leave the company.

What employee benefits does FedEx offer?

FedEx offers several employee benefits. These include health care, tuition reimbursement, and paid time off. Employees enjoy holiday pay, a good work-life balance, discounts, and adoption assistance.

The kind of perks you get at the company will depend on your role and level of seniority.

Health Insurance, Medical, Dental, & Vision

Package handlers get health insurance benefits after working for 1,000 hours. They can choose medical, dental, and vision benefits. These benefits apply to them and their dependents.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics found that employers in private industries pay a significant sum on employee health care premiums.

Full-time package handlers are eligible after a 90-day waiting period.

  • Medical

  • Dental

  • Vision

  • Prescription drug

As part of its commitment to the workforce, FedEx runs a group benefits program. This program covers the monthly premiums (100%) for the employees' health.

Employees working for 90 days at the company can get health and dental coverage.

FedEx also offers an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which provides counseling and support services for employees and their families. The company also covers the costs of employee physicals, vision exams, and immunizations.

Tuition reimbursement

Tuition reimbursement by employees means that your company will help pay for your tuition and other associated costs up to a specific limit. This can be an extremely valuable benefit that can help offset the cost of furthering your education.

The reimbursement limit is $1,500 per calendar year.

While full-time FedEx employees get this benefit, seasonal package handlers do not get tuition reimbursement. However, if seasonal package handlers continue their employment at the company, FedEx will count their service time.

For every 20 hours a package handler works, they get an hour of paid time off. They can use their paid time off after working at the company for 90 consecutive business days.

  • Part-time package handlers: Up to 40 hours of PTO per fiscal year

  • Full-time package handlers: Eligible to earn up to 80 hours of PTO per fiscal year

Package handlers at FedEx start accruing paid vacation time as soon as they are hired, whether they're full-time or seasonal employees.

They can start using their paid time off after working at the company for six months. FedEx credits vacation time into the employee's account on the 15th of every month.

All package handler employees who have been at the company for a year get holiday pay. They get 11 paid holidays annually.

  • Part-time package handlers: Eligible for 3.5 hours of holiday pay

  • Full-time package handlers: Eligible for 7.0 hours of holiday pay

Seasonal package handlers do not get holiday pay.

Work-life balance

Work-life balance is one of the most sought-after employee benefits. It has been shown to improve productivity and job satisfaction. It also directly reduces stress levels.

Like most top-level companies, FedEx has a work-life balance policy. This policy includes flexible working hours, telecommuting options, leaves for new parents, and on-site child care.

The work-life balance policies at FedEx are designed to help employees maintain a healthy lifestyle. In this way, they can still give their best at work. Here are some notable perks FedEx offers to improve its employees' work-life balance:

  • Child and adult care: The company offers flexible working hours. It helps employees manage their child care responsibilities. They also have on-site child care at many of their locations worldwide.

  • Diet and exercise: FedEx's wellness program provides employees with access to gyms. Employees also get personal trainers and healthy eating options.

  • Mortgage and loans: The paid benefit offers solutions for employees dealing with various challenges. Examples include loan repayments, financial needs, legal issues, and mortgages.

  • Relocations: The company helps with the costs of moving to a new location, whether for a new job or personal reasons.

As a result, FedEx employees can maintain a healthy work-life balance. This leads to better productivity and overall satisfaction with their job.

Stock purchase plan

A stock purchase plan is a program offered by many companies as a perk. It allows employees to buy shares of the company's stock at a discounted price. This can be an excellent way for employees to invest in the company they work for.

The stock purchase plan is among the best FedEx benefits. Employees who have worked at the company for three consecutive months can enroll in it. They can then contribute a percentage of their paychecks to buy FedEx stock.

Additional Benefits & Discounts

  • Discounts: Employees can get discounts through LifeCare, cell phone plans (20% off), cars, vacations, attractions, restaurants, FedEx shipping, and more.

  • Wage payment: FedEx has a Progressive Wage Schedule for package handler employees paid every week via the payment options of direct deposit, Pay Card, and the FedEx Credit Association.

  • MetLife: Employees can get assistance in critical illness insurance, auto insurance, home insurance, and legal services.
