Job Seeker
About a year ago, I walked away from a job due to the work environment. Later I found out that I was creatively fired... The job duties from other employees, who had also left, were tasked to me. The situation built up to the point that I had enough...
I was working 60 to 70 hours a week and the quality of work was starting to diminish. The final straw was when I was asked to take on the duties of a colleague. Sadly, these duties were something I would normally enjoy...
Before I left, I created training videos for my successor in exchange for "leaving on good terms". This did help at least one time... When my final superior would have lambasted me... she remembered and said.."oh, your leaving on good terms...." and let it drop.
After I started to look for a new job, I have had multiple interviews. So far I have been turned away. I feel that it is a combination of my age, 47, the black mark from leaving a job and my "outdated" skill set.
I have heard that it can take a year and a half ( or longer ) for someone like me to find another full time job on par with what I had.
What can I do to mitigate my circumstances? Especially in the light of finding a full time job. Going back to school is not really an option given my current financial state. I already have two part time jobs that barely keep me afloat.
Thank you

Bullying; wrongful termination
A co-worker was constantly subjected to public abuse from her, 6'6" 250 LB male, boss. When she attempted to meet with him to determine how to resolve his dissatisfaction, he simply became worse. Nothing she did was ever correct or accurate to him even when team leads felt she resolved the situation correctly. She took PTO days for out-of-town business and he demanded she give him her desk key before leaving.
What actions can she take to inform the company that she was bullied and that it wasn't her performance as he stated as grounds for her termination? And should she apply for other positions within the company that was acquired by a larger company.

A SUSPICIOUS SEVERING FROM EMPLOYMENT
A friend who was a supervisor at the community mental health agency that we both worked for was called into the office last Thursday, and was told that "because the program had been losing $ for the last two years", his position was being eliminated, effective immediately. He was the Intensive Case Manager and Peer Support Director, with almost 20 years of service to the organization, and is age 59, and had an exemplary record. Here is the text of the email that he sent to me: "At the end of the day today I met with (redacted) and (redacted). My position was eliminated and I was severed from employment. I no longer work for (redacted). I will call you soon and give you my new phone number. I will also set up a personal email account. Money was the reason given -- the program has been losing money for the past two years. But I haven no friends in corporate. They wanted to get rid of me. Big blow but I'll survive and move forward. Of course tonight I cannot sleep." (Sent Friday, March 17, 2017 at 2:48 am). Yet, I checked their employment website, and the same position that he was "severed" from is being advertised, albeit under a different title, but with the same job responsibilities. I find all of it highly suspicious, given his age and experience. I left their employment about a month ago after 14 years, and glad that I did. Some things were going on that I didn't feel comfortable dealing with, and before I made that decision, I spoke with him. He told me that "it would be a shame to lose me as an employee, because I was loyal and dependable", but something (I have a second sense about things), told me it was time to go. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that this would have happened to him. Luckily for him, he only has a few months to go before he is 59 1/2, and he can tap into his 401k. When we do speak, I have a friend who is willing to re-tailor his resume(s) so that he can seek out other employment I wish I could do more.

Lawsuit?
DMV made a mistake and got me fired from a driving / traveling job. Anyone know if there could be a lawsuit there?
My employer told me a ticket was making the company insurance drop me, so I accepted it as I did get a ticket, but later check my driving record to see it was suspended about 21 days later. Called DMV and they fixed it that day, also sent an e-mail to my previous employer letting them know the situation. Sadly the HR person will not talk to me at all, nor respond to my e-mails. SMH.

I'm just responding to your post on the subject " wrongfully terminated". I would hope companies are not out there just firing people for whatever reason???? and then removing information from the personal file??? If that is the case then maybe that should be looked into????

Getting nervous
I lost my job after a year due to internal high School rumors and gossip. Basically someone who didn't like me just continuously made my life at work miserable. Finally I lost my job. In the last 2 weeks I have put in over 100 resumes for office work. So far nothing not even an interview. I feel like if I could at least get an interview I'd more than likely get the job. I have even gone to 3 temp agencies and still nothing. Does anyone know of anything??? I now have a car payment and several other bills I have since accumulated and I'm getting very worried.

Illegal?
My boss found out I had an interview yesterday. If he fires me for looking for anot her job is that illegal?
