I was driving back home around 3 in the morning and I had not seen my family for over 4 weeks so I decided to take a short cut through some pretty isolated back roads that I didn’t know too well. It was literally in the middle of NOWHERE but I figured if it got me home faster it would be worth it.

So I get to this part of the road with all of these old creepy trees on the side. I hadn't seen a house or anything in hours, it was just miles and miles of nothing. Then out of the corner of my eye, I notice what I think is a body hanging from a tree on the side of the road in my rearview. I do a double-take because when you are tried your mind can play tricks. I blink, look again and still see him clear as day. I put on my break, backed up quickly and drove over ready to call 911. Then the guy is just gone. Totally gone! I got the hell out of there, but I know what I saw.

I had a MD state trooper tell me at 2am last Wednesday that it was illegal for my child to be in the sleeper. I told him that was NOT true at all! I work as a team and my co-driver was sleeping. You have to have one if your kid is under a certain age, usually 5 but depends on the company. He tried to lecture me about being a good mother and I ALMOST lost it right there. My son is VERY well cared for, safe and loved. He ran my license then comes back and tells me to have a good one. No ticket, so I guess he knew he was wrong.

First day of class was this past Saturday. We got thrown in the fire without any knowledge of how to back. The instructor showed us once and that was it. Then he expects us all to do it perfectly. I hit like 10 cones and felt like an ass, but a buddy of mine actually backed the truck straight into a ditch. Why they even had the truck anywhere near a ditch I have no clue. The instructor turned red and I really thought he was going to kill somebody. I feel like the videos I watch on Youtube been more helpful than what this guy has taught us. Is this what usually happens?? What should I do?

I am still shaken up over this. I pulled into a rest stop off of Interstate 70 a few weeks back to use the bathroom. All of a sudden I hear a woman from the stall next door tell me that she doesn’t feel well and that I might need to call 911. I ask her what’s wrong and there is NO answer. I asked her again if she was ok and again no answer so I got out and tried to push the stall door open but couldn’t. I ran and got help from some folks at the Burger King nearby. They kicked the door open and we all saw that the woman had passed out and hit her head on the ground. She was bleeding pretty bad. The paramedics told me later that she had a seizure and that I had saved her life just by being the only person in the bathroom that day and how quick I reacted. I was just so glad I was there!!

I have seen that people in this group that truck with their dogs. Well, I have my cat Franky. He loves being in the truck and he's just awesome. Last week I had a huge scare tho. I pulled over to use the rest stop and when I opened the door Franky jumped out and bolted towards the woods!!! I swear that cat means more to me than anything in the world. I ran after him and people at the stop came by to help call him and look but he was gone. I sat for a while cryin in my truck and after I called every animal shelter around I heard a meow and there he was sitting outside the door. After two hours it was a miracle he found his way back to me. There was no way I was going to leave my road buddy behind!

My mom works so hard to support me and my brothers. I been thinking about ways I can help pay her back and also get myself on my feet after college. I know truckers make good money but I want to learn a little bit more before I make the leap. What do you wish someone had told you before you started trucking? Any advice??? Thanks for all of our help!!

Last week I was doing a haul and the dispatcher told me I had to make it by 6 that night. It was my own STUPID fault but I drove faster than I ever do. I just really wanted to shut him the hell up and make it there. Well it rained hard earlier that day and I hit a big puddle. The truck skid and I flipped it onto its side. I called it in right away and then yesterday my boss told me I am fired. I couldn’t believe it!!!!! Anyone else ever get into an accident? I can't be the only one! Not sure what to do now.

I am sure any fellow trucker could tell you that they cover a LOT of ground. I had no idea how much.

This is pretty amazing!

I was doing a long haul a couple days ago and had my dog Purdy with me. I love my little girl!! Not even 10 miles out DOT pulls me over. They tell me she can’t have her head out the window and that he is going to write me a ticket!!! I start to freak out, but as he is about to write the ticket Purdy starts to cry and puts her paw up in the air and kind of waves at him like she is saying hi over and over. He asks me if I taught her that. I said I didn’t. He smiles and tells me I can go with a warning. Unbelievable!

It's easy to forget that truckers deliver a majority of the goods we enjoy in our homes every single day.

Things such as fresh fruits and vegetables, your favorite beverages, paper towels, clothing, etc. It all gets delivered from a truck.

So make sure to stop and thank a trucker when you see one!

AND if you are already a trucker, give yourself a pat on the back. Your job truly makes a difference.
