social work

Kindly refer to the above heading. I am pleased to present my candidature for the post of social worker. I am a Tanzanian aged 30 years. I hold Bachelor Degree in Social Work from the Open University of Tanzania (2011-2014) and Ordinary Diploma in social work (2009-2011) from the Institute of Social Work. In as far as work experience is concerned, I managed to be working with various agencies like TANESCO Hydro Power Plant at Pangani (Nyumba ya Mungu) as assistant welfare officer on temporally basis, Walio katika Mapambano na AIDS Tanzania (WAMATA) as a volunteer counselor , KIWOHEDE at Mwanza Branch as a Social worker and currently I am working at PASADA as a Counselor . The major roles performed in these agencies including providing outreach programs and monitoring and evaluate over the programs , educating, guidance and counselling, Home visit, empowering and co coordinating. Basing on above academic qualifications coupled with work experience in Social Work field, I believe if I will be given such an opportunity as social worker, I will be able to perform my duties diligently and meet the Organization expectation.

Social Worker with DCFS

I worked at DCFS from 1984 to 2011 at which point I retired. I carried a caseload; worked at the shelter; worker in post-adoptions and with private agencies placing DCFS wards with the appropriate agency.

Older job seekers

I am 67 years old, but have been working outside the home, off and on, for over 30 years. For the last five years, I have been both a counselor and a teacher at a private middle school in New Haven, CT., working with underserved children in New Haven. Because it was time for a change, I decided to look for a position involving Counseling and or Social Work, either full or part-time. I have raised four children, and now have three beautiful granddaughters. Do you have any advice for older job seekers?

The biggest mistake I made as a #Socialworker at #PresenceHealthStMarys ...

  1. Forgetting my key in patients room, Thanks God the patient gave it to me. I still got a reprimanded.
  2. Not calling the Supervisor Once to report a Dr.

Social work jobs

I am a bachelors level licensed social worker. I watch my grandson's a few days a week so I am only looking for part-time work. And I haven't worked in my field for 10 years. I've put in for quite a few jobs now and only gotten a call for one interview. That interview made me realize I am not up on the latest information in my field (mental health). The person who interviewed me told me maybe I should put on for some on call jobs within the same agency. I did so several weeks ago and have not received a call for an interview. I am 46 years old and I'm now r wondering maybe it also has to do with my age. However, I am wondering if there are any inexpensive ways for me to get up-to-date experience in my field. I can't afford conferences at this point. Any ideas on a place I could volunteer to get experience or any other ideas for me to get more recent experience? Any help would be appreciated.

Finally have a job

I'm 40 and graduated with a degree in social work. My first was in Psychology. I interviewed for 4 months and never got call backs. Finally, I got a position as a customer service representative at a local call center. I needed something to help support my family as working as a substitute teacher was occasional. 2 weeks into the call center job, I got a call for a job 30 miles away and part time. I had to turn it down because it would have cost more to drive it than I would make. 2 weeks later, I got the call of a lifetime (for me). I will be working for a social service agency helping children. It's a start as I really want to work with older adults. I consider this a way to learn how to work within the system.

I am posting this to say that it takes hard work, learning about the company, researching the position and dedication. I have been where a lot of you are. No call backs. I just consider this the right place and right time. There is hope folks. Have faith in yourself and be yourself. Being real is essential to knowing whether or not you and the company will be a good fit.

I want to say thank you to all who post on here. I have learned a little from each post. Good luck and may the jobs be with us, always!!

Social Worker

I just moved from Seattle Wa to GA. I did Child Welfare services for 15 years. Prior to that I worked at a medical clinic. I want to go in hospital SW but most places want you to have your license. The ones that don't require it wants more hospital experience. The state social workers don't make much what money at all. Any suggestions?
