JST: Create a Twitter Job Search List to Track Job Listings From Thousands of Sources

Every day, recruiters are tweeting jobs they need to interview candidates for—making Twitter a seriously untapped resource for job seekers. To make sure you’re in the know about these leads, create a Twitter job search list that includes recruiters, hiring managers, company hiring handles, and job search websites. Then, review their tweets daily for potential opportunities.

Social Media vs Professional Madia

Hello Jobseekers: Today I wanted to address how we poetry ourself on social media myself included. After read several stories about companies checking you Facebook/instagram it open my eyes to the way I am in my personal like may cause me not to get a job I want. Then I also read some one had called out of work due to being sick and the boss when on Facebook and there she was on the beach having a good time. When she came back to work she was let go. The lesson to this is don't post inappropriate thing on your social media it can cause you your job or even future employment. And don't lie about being sick n be laying on the beach. The same goes to a profession posting such has Linkin, yes we all love to voice our opinion myself include but keep to the topic on a professional level. For example sometime we post our personal things and to be honest no one care about your personal life other than you and your friends, companies who are browsing your page don't want to know how fabulous your clothes are they want to know your qualification to do the job they need done. Again hope this help you.

Any experience with Protected Concerted activities & FB?

Wondering if anyone has been terminated due to a FB post that MAY fall under protected concerted activities. I was recently fired over a post (on a co-worker'so thread, not mine). We were discussing work expectations on our own time. One of my comments had to do with them only caring about their bottom line. That was what got me fired. The company's name was never mentioned & the post was deleted by the author later the same day. Someone copied it though & turned it in to HR. Several other employees also commented, but no one else was fired, just me. I'm still really upset about it & did apologize, but that fell on deaf ears. I've now had to take another job for less $$$ just to make ends meet. Could really use some advice on if I have any legal recourse or if I just learned a really hard lesson :( Please be nice!!!! I'm being hard enough on myself! Thanks

Fired after 10 years of employment

I was fired! I have always used my picture in uniform, on all corporate emails. I worked 4 hours, after getting sick from something I ate. They sent an employee to take my place. The very next day, I was called in on my off day. They, had a picture of me on Facebook, 3 years ago, of me with a selfie of me in uniform. They said one of my employees found it on my page and sent it to my supervisor. They said I breached policy. I was the only female and the only black person on a 24/7 account, for 7 years. And I have had to overcome so much negativity. If I breach policy, then why was it never address about my corporate picture in uniform?

No Freaking Privacy

My manager made a snide comment to me today about not getting sloshed like I did last weekend. I asked how she would know and she said "You can find out anything over facebook." and laughed and walked away. She is NOT my friend on facebook so I don't understand why she is being so nosey about my life!! First of all, it shouldn't matter what I do on my own time and I don't know who the hell she thinks she is

Propert Manager

One other reason to obtain consent for facebook, or not use it to gain infomation w/o consent, is because it is not reliable info. Unless its being used for that particular purpose. Ex. profile look into someones work experience. You can use it for that reason. I just don't use it that way.

More hints for those looking for new opportunities

I wanted to turn you on to a site that will allow you to access your social network to find out if there are any jobs out there that you haven't heard about. You can also build up some "job karma" points by recommending someone you know for a job and some of the jobs even offer a referral fee from the company!

Just thought I would send along this news, since many of the people on this site are working so hard to find their new path.

What is Wisestep? Wisestep is an online networking platform that brings Users and Employers together. We try, in our small way, in making Career Opportunites easier to Find and Broadcast.

Why Wisestep? Wisestep works as a networking tool that engages Users in building a strong Professional Network to enhance their Career Opportunities. This large and diverse network also allows Employers to reach out to more people and make their Hiring Process faster, cheaper and more efficient.

BUILD YOUR CAREER NETWORK

Connect, converge and communicate with hundreds of thousands of Professionals across the world through the Wisestep network. Interact with peers and experts and build a network of Professional Connections.

FIND JOBS FASTER

Some of the best Jobs never even get advertised. Wisestep is connected to a large number of Employers and Companies and helps you use your Network to find relevant Jobs. Recommend Jobs to Friends and help them out. And if you want to find out more about potential Employers just ask someone in the Network!

Healthcare

Hello all and I'm back. Thanks again for the praises and votes. Yes, it's getting tough in the job market today. Trying to maintain for yourself and or family is not easy also. There are job apps for employment. Friends and family to talk to help get you thru the day. Yes, it's not easy out there anymore but just try and do your best. I'm not a social media type of person because jobs don't want to see you or hear about your information. Living life is one thing and with all the extra is another. This generation has turned into a world of computers robots, social media and unemployed people that try to take care of family or themselves. Well I guess you can believe in our Savoiur let him show you the way, love yourself, family, friends and what you try to do and be thankful to wake up to another great morning. I'll try again to be here to help out if I can but I myself is looking to maintain what I have too. So if you don't see me on here as much is because living to help and trying to do my best like you too. Thank you again to you all from the heart.

This question is way out of line!

The manager asked “is singing more important to you than your professional career?” I never mentioned my signing interest or that I do singing gig’s on the weekends so how did she find out about this? I fail to see the relevance this question has on my skills and ability to perform the job anyway. Not to mention that it’s none of her business how what I do with my time off. She probably did a google search on me or looked into my facebook and social media accounts where my friends and I often share pics and comments about the band. I don’t remember signing a waiver to give her permission to look into my social media accounts. Is this automatically part of the background check now for hiring new employees? When do employers cross the line between professional and personal questioning during a job applicants vetting process?
