Watch for job offer scams

Guess there's some fake companies pretending to offer a great job with excellent pay. Administrative Clerk. They are TEXTING requests to hire and giving instructions on how to get started by having you open or use your credit card to purchase a bunch of "start up" equipment. Laptops, printed scanners, dest furniture and tuey state uat they are sending you a company credit card. Somehow they put money on your credit card so it looks like they are paying you for the transactions you make but then cancel the payment so you are on the hook for the items purchased. $4500 worth of stuff has been recorded. Including requests to purchase thousands on Visa Gift Cards. No direct phone contact, no in office visit or interview. They say they offices are coming, and just need you to get started quickly from home. It's all a complete scam. The police were notified about the group we dealt with. Don't get scammed. Verify companies and NEVER use your own credit card for business purchases. Good luck out there!

Scammers everywhere

I have gotten several e-mails with totally braindead claims pertaining to my activity which is instantly verifiable. I KNOW what I have posted where, and these idiots obviously think they are smarter than the actual person who is in the process of searching. Just pay attention to what is sent to you…. NEVER blindly click on a link, make sure it goes to the site they claim, or you could get slammed with spam or popups… literally all it takes is 1x1 pixel tag from a scammer to cause you all kinds of grief.

SCAM ALERT-TIM BEVILL

Fellow Jobcasers:

Be aware that there is currently a scammer on the board going by the user name of "Tim Bevill" who is responding to many posts on the forum. He claims to have work available and provides his cell number for you to text for details. A copy of his message his attached.

https://www.jobcase.com/p/tim.bevill7

Tim Bevill is a known scam account and has been reported to Jobcase staff.

Red Flags:

•Doesn't mention the name or location of the company •No job description •Completely vague •Only wants to correspond by text •If you call the number it is a google voice number or text only number •Responded to many posts with the same message, meaning they are spamming the site to rope as many people as possible into the scam

Do not provide this user any information. Your safest bet is to not respond to them at all. There account will be deactivated upon review by Jobcase staff.

Employment Scam

Good Morning & Happy Holidays to all: With the holidays upon us, scammers are out in full force doing their best to commit fraud. It is important when conducting your search for employment that you do all you can to protect yourself. When you come across a posting for a position you are interested in applying for, there are some simple steps you can take to determine whether the posting is actually legitimate or not. First, when reading the ad be on the lookout for grammatical errors. If there are several, it's a safe bet it was posted by a scammer. Next, carefully read the job description. If the ad simply lists traits as opposed to an actual description of the duties that the position entails, it is most likely a scam. For example, if the posting simply lists things like "Must have excellent communication skills, must be professional, must be prompt, good listener, etc. you can bet it's a scam. Also, look to see if a salary range is posted. The first step for a scammer is to attract your attention and they often achieve this by posting salaries WAY out of the normal range. When possible, always research the company listed as the "employer." Do a simple Google search and try to find the company website. Often, scammers will use the name of legitimate companies. If they have a careers section, look to see if the job posted is listed in this section. Look to see where the company is located and if they have a location in your area. Below is an ad that was posted on Indeed.com for an "Office Assistant" position featuring many of what I have described above:

Office Assistant Position truckcountry - New York, NY 10001 Your resume is a match. We are in need of office assistant. The right candidate will be responsible for receiving incoming calls and troubleshooting the clients account based on the concern of the client. You must be able to be calm and receptive so that you can help resolve issues or concerns that our clients may have.Communication is the key!

MUST HAVE: Excellent communication and writing skills Excellent time management and organization skills Ability to prioritize Flexibility to work over time when necessary Detail-oriented Excellent computer skills a must Bilingual is a plus 5 hours ago - original job What caught my eye right off the bat are the grammatical errors. 2nd was there is no real job description. Exactly what will you be doing on a daily basis? Also, note that "experience" is not listed anywhere. Do you need to have experience in the industry or using things like programs and equipment? Truck Country is a legitimate business, however, they are located in Versailles, MO with NO locations in New York, N.Y. as listed.
Being diligent with these simple steps can save you time, and most importantly money. Happy Holidays all and happy hunting!

Is this how your interviews go?

I've had a couple interviews this week. First of all the HR person asks to be invited on Hangouts chats. Then I'm allowed to review the webpage of the company and then similar questions are ask.

Once hired, a check is emailed and you are ask to put it into your account using mobile banking to buy your start up equipment.

Is it for real or a scam?

POTENTIAL SCAM ALERT-ANDREW COLE

Jobcasers:

Be advised that there is a user named Andrew Cole currently spamming the board with vague responses to those looking for work.

This is a scam attempt. Do not reply to this user, they have been reported to Jobcase.

Red Flags:

  1. Spamming the board with the same message over and over in response to many different posts

  2. Non-colloquial English (no one says "Happy New Month")

  3. No description of the potential job, no web site, and a vague request to text your response. (The phone number is a Google voice number or other third party freeware)

Again, this is a scam attempt, do not respond to this user.

Even MORE scammers

Look, I joined this service in earnest to find work. I'm sure there are good leads to find but I keep running into people who at least WISH I was stupid. Contacted someone here who said they needed a part-time caregiver for his sister here in Atlanta. Gave LOTS of specifics. Thought it was right up my alley, as I took care of my son after his bone marrow transplant a few years ago. It put him in a wheelchair for a time. It left him with facial scars. His mom and I just about lost our minds. The stress, the tears, we went through it all! All this over the last 5 years. I explained in full detail all of what I did for my child. It hurt me to recount because the whole time during his care I was thinking "how does HE feel?" I could never truly know. It hurts on a level that only the parents of a child as sick as mine was would understand. He made it, thank God!!!! But back to the guy and his sister... He sends a $920 check for me to deposit. I happen to notice the signature is a FONT. I have printing for over 20 years so I can detect these things very easily. Apparently he didn't read my resume lol. Also, there is a recruiter ON THIS SITE that is using the same (contact) number as the guy who sent me the check! So I ask him who the guy is, he responds "My financial, what is going on with my check?" Financial what? Then I tell him about the font, and I ask him to explain ALL. No response. It's been 45 minutes since. Sooo, another person or persons wasting my time. Absolutely infuriating! I've had ENOUGH!!!!
