I'm a little dumbfounded (if you can call it that)
I just had an "interview" over something called "hangouts"..it was for a customer service and admin assistant position.. When I was emailed by someone from this company I could tell that their writing was on a first grade level to an extent OR English wasn't their first language..whe I emailed back and stated that I didn't have the app hangouts downloaded on my iPad or phone I asked for a second way to interview they replied back with the same thing not really giving me a solution because I didn't want to add anything else to my phone or iPad.. So I did anyway and contacted the person I was supposed to..interview/chat went ok and I didn't feel it was a scam UNTIL they wanted bank info..I'm not a fan of giving out my personal bank info to anyone if it's not apart of the hiring paperwork that's in person not online.. He stated "what's your bank name" I very politely told him I wasn't comfortable Give him that information online in that setting (but had it been face to face and I was hired already and doing hiring paperwork I understand that's part of it which is ok it's legal) he stated that he only needed the name of the bank when I asked what for he said "so we can pay you" and I said "you just told me that you would send me a check in the mail you don't need my bank Info for that".. He said "I just need the name of your bank" sorry dude I still don't give out that information online to someone I've never met in person I've been scammed out of thousands before, not doing it again.. My question is this: how do you know when it's a "scam" or a ligitimate interview over the net or phone?? How and why are websites like ziprecruiter (where this Job was posted) able to post "scams"..how do I handle situations like this?? Help!

I was just almost scammed
I never to hangout google and this person named chris kept messaging me wanted to offer 40,00 an hour and then they asked me to deposit a check and buy my own supplies I knew they were a scam . I am just so depressed I cant even get into an interview. in the mean time I have bills totalling about 3000 and no money coming in. I want to rent our the master bedroom but I am afraid I will lose my house on top of all this. I am just about ready to die. all my family is gone and its not for lack of trying to get a job. I sent out 250 resumes in 2 days on top of maybe 400 or so since I was let go. I dont know I want to give up. I just want a job.

Student working on my Associates Degree in Criminal Justice.
Does anyone have any tips to share on how to know if a job offer is genuine or if it is a scam? I got scammed recently after being told I was hired for a data entry job? Is there a way you can tell before accepting or denying a job, is there a website that you can checkout for the legitimacy of the offer?

The next envelope stuffing scam
Hi, I've been hearing a lot about virtual assistants. Is this something that you can really earn a great salary at or just the next great scam.

Online Scam Artists Are Alive and Well Out Here
They are everywhere and it is wise to not disclose any of your personal information whatsoever. Be cautious of an interview from another country that will not allow you to view them in a cam, or is unable to call you directly, or give a business license number, they are extremely clever. No birthdays, Social Security Numbers, Debt/Credit card numbers, give nothing of where you are banking, none of these should be given without some concrete proof that this is a job offer that is able to pay for your labor.
