Really really tired
I was medically retired from the Army in 2010. I was also fortunate enough to make it to 20 yrs. I have four college degrees. And numerous classes in computers and coding. I tweak my resume for each job I apply for and still nothing. It's getting very discouraging. Any ideas? Help.

Highschool diploma?
Do most jobs hire you if you only have a highschool diploma and no college degree ?(well I'm starting online school soon) but I'm just wondering if people hire if you only have a highschool diploma.

Who you know
It’s sadden me to continue to look for employment and know that even though your qualified for most of the positions you apply for but don’t get any calls for interviews because the honest truth is who you know. You’ve got to know someone or you do not get any notice despite your qualifications. Very discouraging!

Confused
Here's the deal. I applied for a job I was more then qualified for on 10-13. I got an interview was told in the interview "these was no question I was qualified". So why is it a company would hold second interviews and hide a second round if interviews to hire people that are not qualified and also dont live up to there company policy. They have never contacted me to tell me I was not getting the job or anything. Yet after 3 month of being unemployed I am now getting calls for positions I have never had. They are also telling me about other openings in their companies that I might be interested in such as managment. Just hoping that something comes through soon I could use some good news.

I can cook stock and de a cashier and do drywall
I can do about anything and have . I'm a hard worker and can work any time.

Confused
I applied for and interviewed for a job and it went to someone else they felt was "more qualified." That was 2 months ago. They then re-posted the job a month later and called me again. Again, job went to "most qualified." Now, today, they call again and want to know if I want to interview for job, again. Seriously? I really want the job at first and still need a job desperately, but do I want to continue going through this again. Any advise?

LiVID as hell!
I went through the interviews did all the jumping through hoops got my class A CDL all I needed to do was pay the. DoT$12 for a chauffeur's passenger endorsement and Workforce cut off my benefits because they sent the mail to the wrong address and blamed me for not making an appointment that I didn't even know about because they sent the mail to the wrong address. Because they cut off my benefits for 15 days I had to tell all employers I applied at that I could not make interviews second interviews third interviews and they had to put me at the end of their list. I thought Workforce was supposed to help you get a job they did nothing but hinder me, talk about pissed off!!!

Updating your skills
The advice to update your skills is often given to job seekers on the site, especially if your are an older workers seeking a job or if you have worked at one company for many years and have been let go. Many of us need an inexpensive way to do this. If you have no job you have no money. Many of the free computer classes no longer exist and local community colleges want &500.00 per class. Have checked with many local resources but they only offer very basic limited help. Any suggestions to us jobseekers needing to update skills but at an affordable option.

Season Workers Career Changes
I’ve seen Season Workers having to change their direction - looking for continued employment.
What this means after 20 plus years you May have to reinvent the wheel.
As a Manager - whatever your specialty or strong skill set can cross over to another skill set in making you more marketable
For example - it seems to be the trend now If you have strong computer skills in IT Apply for positions in doing statistical data - to Market a particular program - in telling the story of a particular group - having s general understanding of the mission & Representative of the functions - able to build a platform to serve the organization would set you apart from other applicants.
Perhaps you managed a workgroup of Individuals where your acquired skills can be better served in another setting for example in Outreach getting the word out to increase sales, resources, services like in Employment, career Development etc.
If your background in Marketing you may want to do a new makeover on you in selling yourself using your Marketing to manage a group in doing Outreach, Employment - Healthcare etc.
Do a makeover of your strengths and look at the workforce where you could be valuable.
I hope this helps you with your next job searc & Interview - Be sure to update your resume as well.
Good Luck!
