PHP developer now working in Electronics
I'm a PHP developer and am used to making 80k a year. My late wife passed 4 years ago and I meat someone and now re-married so I took a job at Bergan-Blue as an Electronics assembler, but now 5 weeks after marriage my wife is pregnant so what should I do, the cap for my position is 40k and it seems PHP is much harder to get hired for these days, any advice?

Unsettled feelings
Okay check this out. l I met at person at the 1st job I'd had in a years time. Well the job is seasonal the job ended the beginning of this last winter 2018. This person calls me up asking if I'd know where to get them a job? I also had a 2nd job that started the same time. as my 1st job. I've been there 7 months maybe little longer. When I first started I didnt know much about the job I(I just knew I had to work and to try my best. And I have come along ways.I like my job I received 1st place in the employer truva night received won 60.bucks. Won't 2nd in customer service bonus. Receive 50 bucks. Never call in sick, always on time. Go in on my days off. Cover for other employees when they call in sick with no coverage. Worked hard to show that I'm dependable and trustworthy. Work some ooening and some closing. Received 2 raises in less than six months. I am the only person that was asked to do weekly inventory. Which i enjoyed doing. I feel I have worked really hard to get wherrei am at./ in such a short time My boss tells me we are hiring. And you get 50 bucks for an employee that stay with the company for 3 months or more. That uses you a a reference. So I get this person i met this summer a job with me..i felt bad for her and new they need income for there family.. so, put may neck out there and made the connection. Just got the 50 buck for getting her a job / staying with the with the company for 3 months+. I. Which is great job! also got, another friend of mine a job there. which I have to receive if she stays with us for 3 + months.I hope they stay. Well a LEAD position came up. I do wanted this new lead position.. I was a potential candidate for the lead position.I did not know, so was the new girl they hired 3 months ago. this is the person i helped out this summer when their luck was down gets this lead position.. I just don't understand. they have no experience. Only there 3 months. Of course I'm happy that they got it and all but I feel butt hurt and little uoset??????????????? I feel really ....?";:"#;";";!#("! How would you feel if it were you? Up set with my boss too. Like What? Talking to him tomorrow not sure what he is going tell me. wish me luck.

IN company is growing
I got a job as an assembler through a friend recommendation, I have been there 2 years & had substantial pay increases; started at $9.50/hr and as of January 2019 was making $12.88/hr. I was offered a lateral promotion; material handler which pays $1/ hr more. I also work night shift; 10 hour shifts, so I also get a shift differential of 10% so I am making $15.27/ hr. We all got a $500 Christmas bonus, a gift card so no income tax on it. The owner of our company is very generous and has told us if we can reduce the scrap, he will pass the saving onto the employees.

NEEDING SOME ADVICE
I've been currently working at a call center company for over 2 years. In this 2 years, I have accomplished many different milestones. Like the following: Team Lead, Mentoring, One on One Trainings, One of the top employees to be on 2 different pilot departments, and filled in for Supervisors. I've applied for a supervisor position 3 times (each time having at least 3 other supervisors recommending me for the position) and being denied. I'm still at the same pay that I was when I started working with this company. Our PTO for the company went from being able to get 2 weeks of vacation, 24 hours of sick, and 16 hours of personal. Now 56 hours of PTO for the year and it doesn't carry over. Health insurance isn't great because I don't make enough to get the best benefits. There always changing the way they do pay out's (KPI'S). They'll say one thing and do another. The supervisors and other Superiority staff come to me to find out how to do their jobs. My supervisor before this last one, I had to show how to do his job (while still expected to be doing mine and helping others). My husband, family, friends, and co-workers have all said many times I should have been a supervisor by now. They keep asking me why I'm still working there. What would you do if you were in my shoes? Would you stick it out a little longer or find better things?

possible upcoming situation
one thing that seems to be happening to companies is that they need workers and the ones who want to work are to old meanwhile the workers that companies want [the younger ones] don't want to start at the bottom - unless there is a quick promotion. the big question to ask about this is will there be a day when companies can't find workers due to this cycle.

Fed up
I have been with my current employer going on 20 years. I have a new co worker that was hired for more money per hour than existing employees including me. I told my management that my yearly raise better be more than the new employees but it is not. I am getting .63 an hour more with annual raise and I am making under 15.00 an hour to start with. New employee is making 15.50. Shes been here about one month I am on year 20. I have been denied on going training and job advancement opportunities all these years to save a receptionist position although a few months ago finally got my job title changed to administrative assistant. I do far more than answer phones and the phones are my most disliked part of this dead end job I am trapped in. I have no other employment options. I cannot get interviews when I apply outside the company and I am pretty certain this is due to my age. Age discrimination also reason I am overlooked for promotions at current job. I work hard, follow the rules but do not get the reward of higher pay or promotions but I am supposed to keep a positive attitude at work. I do my best telling myself I can get through 8 hours of a job I am burnt out on and dislike. We just found out about our joke of a raise yesterday. Some of my co workers got .39 cents an hour more. Way to appreciate the staff that often works understaffed, heavy work load, and get berated by angry customers because not enough staff and they have to wait, mistakes are made because of job stress. I have developed a stress ulcer from this job and several coworkers pop ibuprofen daily to deal with headaches. I intend to send a detailed complaint in a email to HR questioning the company policy in paying a new hire more than a senior employee. I also intend to file a complaint against the company with the state or will that do me any good seeing as Oregon has the at will rule meaning employees can leave or be fired at will? I am working on taking early retirement next year. It is the only option I see that I have left. My aging parents need my help more now and if I get fired for voicing my opinion well the company would be doing me a favor. The job is affecting my health. Is there any agency I can report my employer to for the way they treat staff? They are burning us all out being shortstaffed all the time plus under paid and over worked. We are not supposed to make mistakes ever. We are to be perfect. A division manager actually told our management team this one time. Coming from a out of touch division manager that does not work with high volume of customers in person and on the phone is ridiculous. I often wonder what upper management actually does to contribute to the company. They need to be working alongside their staff instead hiding behind closed doors in offices far from where the work is going on. My one coworker said the company does things backwards. She is right. I am looking for advice on how to handle this situation while I still have to work there. I am a single income household person caught between a rock and a hard place, as are we all that work there. There has to be a better way to earn a living. Life is too short for this other nonsense.

Can't Move Up!
I am at a job that I really enjoy! I interviewed for a position within the company, got the job but couldn't take it because of the hours... I have a 11-month-old daughter and finding 2nd shift care is difficult... There was another job that I didn't apply for because I thought I wasn't qualified but when I saw non-qualified people getting 2nd interviews, I told myself I am gonna go for everything no matter what and that the right opportunity is gonna come and the hours will fit when it comes...

Master HVAC/R mechanic
After a few engineering courses and architectural classes I was able to read and understand blueprints and got promoted to project manager.

Being Forced into Retirement!
Afternoon...I am approaching my 65th birthday in April, and the owner of the company I work for is requesting that I retire. Can he force me to retire even though I am not ready too? He states if I don't retire he will "promote" me to another position in the company...this could be cleaning the bathrooms. If I refuse to retire, can he retaliate and dig up some bad data and terminate me? I look forward to your response.
