One thing I would have loved to have at #Petco was
A general manager that didn’t show favorites.

What I loved about working at #Petco was
I loved the daily interaction with animals and most of the people I worked with, however the expectations of corporate vs the allotted resources was a joke. There was never enough staff to assist customers due to payroll. As a result managers were always overdue on required tasks. We spent hours running registers nearly every day. On Mondays I was supposed to be "protected" from running a register and answering manager calls as it took every minute of my shift to get my required duties done. This never happened because we were always short staffed. As a result I always worked over, did a half-assed job, or both. Shipment day was supposed to be Thursday afternoon and we were staffed accordingly. About half the time we would find out Thursday morning that the truck was delayed until Friday. The schedule was never adjusted. Instead of trying to reschedule staff for when they were needed, they all came in and stood around. We were left shorthanded trying to stock product on the weekend which was always crazy busy. Upper management would actually tell us to not make eye contact or approach customers. The #1 priority was getting the truck done in 24 hours, which was unreasonable in the best of circumstances. Petco's priorities are totally screwed up. I was in a huge, very busy store. We closed with one cashier and one manager. The manager was expected to help customers, run the aquatic department, take out the trash, gather carts from the lot and front and face the entire store. I was treated like shit when this wasn't done to perfection. Very stressful job.
