It is a funny thought that we are so intense on trading experience with youth. I know and believe there are opportunities for both. One should complement the other. In Northern Europe, people are hired if they have 3 degrees, 40 years of experience and are between 30 to 40 years in age. Not possible and very unrealistic. This trend should concern all of us, not just the job seekers but even more, the employees and the great people with visions of starting their own companies.

I am a perfect example of this. I will take whatever job I can get. If I could do what I really want to do, I would work within the Educational Technology explosion. To do so and be great at it, you need experience. At 55 and having had a great career in software sales, I am being discriminating against because of my age, even though I have a powerful rolodex and have made differences in corporate America.

The real question is, "how do you do things differently to market your shill set regardless of what it is and what you want to achieve. Using social media is very important. LinkedIn can be very helpful. Jobcase is a social media platform and serves millions of people well. There is, however, something missing. We have all these great technologies in place, but it seems to me that no one has yet to put the whole package together from education at any level to employment. These technologies exist. Many of them are developed in Europe, but has never seen the light of day in the US. I happen to quite a few of them and unless someone is willing to invest in bringing these technologies to the US, they will stay where they are developed.

Using Jobcase and the millions of profiles linked to them, we have a great start. We have to approach the job market in a non traditional way and I would love to participate to make that happen
