The hardest part of a job search is when those bills are around the corner and you don’t have any work because either you’ve been laid off or your job just isn’t offering you any hours right now. It’s important to not give up because when one door closes, many others open.

I'm sick of applying for jobs and getting rejection after rejection after rejection. I graduated college back in August 2018. I had my ceremony in December 2018. I applied for so many jobs and internships and even landed some interviews and did not land a single one. It is frustrating. The worst part is, I also applied to some graduate schools (because I thought it might be my experience), but the majority of them rejected me as well. Only 2 grad schools accepted me, 1 being online while the other being far away and has a climate that I'm not used to. Both only take 1 year to complete. It feels like I'm now forced to continue looking for jobs with the skill set I have. It feels like I have to go through 1,000 rejections before I ever get acceptance. It feels like my parents spent a lot of money on my future only to not get one. I feel hopeless, and I am panicking. It's also embarrassing, because my friends were able to start their careers fairly quickly (some even majoring in the same field as me), yet I am still struggling. It feels like the real world hates me and will do whatever it can to get me to fail. I am about to go 1 full year after graduating college without starting my career, and it feels like I might have to go several before then as well. I don't know what to do.

I have my own business and want to expand my business and add more value to it by performing other services. But as we all know you have to spend money to make money. Looking for outside work to help fill my availability is the worst. I love what I do, but it's not paying the bills. I really don't want to go work for a big store w/little pay but I don't have a degree. Furthering my education is possible but Its a catch 22. If I go back to school, I will potentially miss out on opportunities that may revitalize my company.

I've never used this but I guess its worth a shot... I walked out of my job about a month ago due to emotional harassment from my manager. They knew it was coming and I still have good references. However I've been in the kitchen for the last five years and have a degree in pastry arts. Due to recent events the last couple years I just wanna take a step back and do something different but I still need to make enough to cover living cost, about 12 an hour. I'm looking for a part time position but it's been difficult to get my foot in the door anywhere that's not a kitchen. Just looking for advice I guess or any opportunities you may know of! I've been on a few interviews this week and last week no success yet and I'm on my very last unemployment check with rent and bills due immediately. Are there any jobs out there that are definitely hiring right now? Everything is starting to pile up all over again and I don't think unemployment does extensions anymore.

My area is rather remote and jobs clearly are few and far between. To top it off - I am truly surprised the companies that hire families and boyfriends and girlfriends. Many organizations that try to help feel I can travel across Lake Champlain with ease to work. There is a ferry and 90 minute drive 1 way to get to the bigger cities. I cannot accept a min wage job with ferry and gas expenses. Is anyone familiar with Burlington, VT area? I have a 4 yr degree in Business Management and Marketing. 18 plus years in clerical positions. I would love to go back to working for myself again but getting started again has been also discouraging. It's a lot of work and lots of hours and I was always the happest. I need it to pay my mortgage and insurances is what causes a lot of problems. Ideas, suggestions are appreciated.

So I have been looking for a job since March of last year. I am 28 and I went from working two jobs to NOTHING!! I can't stand it and I want to work!! I have applied for so many jobs I lost count and my bills are really piling up. What do I do???

I was terminated from my job in 2018 August. I worked with a pharmaceutical (plasma company) facility in Oklahoma for. I was the assistant manager of two with a center director I reported to. We three were given corporate cedit cards with a monthly available balance of $2500. Upon management training for managers, we are told if we incidently use the card for personal purchases that we were to pay it back and just be more aware of what we are purchasing when we use the CC. I had a flawless record with the company with no call ins or displinary actions against me. My center director had been after me for months due to I found out through an employee that she did not fire an employee after she found out that he had stolen a $50 gift card from another employee. The victim called me in distress because the accused worked in the same department as her. I advised the employee to contact our regional director and she complied. The RD questioned the CD and the RD questioned me as well. I disclosed the integrity lack there of that the CD has displayed since hiring. Well the had to question the CD, and of course my name was given. I later found out that the my CD was upset and I noticed that she was placing me on shitty schedules while the other assistant manager was able to literally pick the hours she wanted to come to work. Back to the corporate credit card. So every month one of us are responsible for doing a recon of the purchases that are made. The other assistant manager was completing the task and she asked me about a $75 purchase. I responded telling her that I was not aware of a purchase of such. I asked what store but the title said grocery. I told her that all my receipts are in the pouch where they are supposed to be kept. She could not locate it. So I decided to look in my purse, and behold the receipt was at the bottom of my purse with my other old personal receipts. I gave it to her and she asked what was a "Nettie Pot". I told her I did not know. So we looked it up and it was a slow cooker. My mouth dropped because I then realize that I purchase a wedding gift for one of hour co-workers a month prior not realizing I used the wrong card because I have the same credit card with the same bank and pin number. That is the reason the receipt was at the bottom of my purse because I thought it was my card I used. Well it was late when the recon was being done, so I emailed purchasing and told them what I did and that I would forward a cashier check the next day ( which I did). The next day my center director came in and I was busy working in the production area. Well 30 minutes after she came to work she called me in the office and wanted to know what happened. I told her and she then stated she needed to inform our regional director,which was something she did not have to do because the money was paid back, plus it was a honest mistake, as well as it was already explained by corporate what we are suppose to do if this happens. I am also aware of other managers making larger purchases than mines and the money was paid and they are still employed. Well I worked the entire weekend by myself and come that Friday, I was called in the office and terminated. I was floored! I came in with 15 years of plasma experience and this has never happened to me. I tried filing for unemployment and it was denied. I appealed it and it was denied. When I went through the appeal process, it was teleconference and we could only answer certain questions. When I tried to explain about the retaliation, the judge cut me off and striked the statement. I called corporate and tried to explain to them as well, and still same thing, I was cut off. I have never been so humiliated in my life! I have been searching for a job every since. Luckily I am married and my husband brings in a very good salary. I started subbing at the public schools, but that not what I want to do. I have a Master Degree in Human Resource Management and I am part ways done with my PhD. in Human Resource Management. I am lost for words on what approach I can take with the company as well as my next career. I literally have submitted over 100 applications.

I am so sorry for the long text, but I really need some guidance on what direction to go in. More than anything I want a career. I am willing to relocate as long as it's not too far from home.

Take Your Hobby And Make It Your Business

Most of us have a hobby that brings us joy and rejuvenate us after a long week of responsibilities. Some may have even daydream of what it would be like to take that hobby and making it into a full-time business that we can thrive at, and pay the bills. But to create a successful business, requires more than just skills and passion. Building a sustainable business takes careful planning, deep commitment and a strong business attitude.

In order to turn your hobby into your business, here are some important steps that you will need to take:

1.) Have A Goal

Is this going to be a full-time business that is going to take care of all of your living expenses, recreational spending, insurance, investments and retirement and regular savings?

Perhaps you just want a part-time business to supplement your income from your day time job; a little extra cash to cover expenses.

Depending on your needs, the more you'll depend on the income from your hobby-business, the harder you'll need to work at it

2.) Brainstorm How To Make Money With Your Hobby

You may need to find more than one aspect of your hobby that you can make money from, to create a sustainable business . Think about all the ways that you could make money from your hobby. For example, if you're a wood carver, you could sell your carvings, but you also could teach carving classes, open carving shop, or design and sell carving design templates.

3.) Keep Your Enjoyment For Your Hobby

Will you still enjoy your hobby if you're doing it for money? Making money from your hobby may mean that you will be doing your hobby even on days that you may not feel like it. You will also have to meet deadlines, please demanding customers, manage unexpected expenses, financing and marketing. Be sure you're willing to juggle all these things before you turn your hobby into a business.

4.) Do It Well

Get really good at what you do — before you quit your job. To make money from your hobby, you've got to be good at it. If your skills aren't yet up to par, make a plan for improving them and put off your business idea until you're ready.

5.) Create A Business Plan

When you write a business plan, you'll evaluate the market for your hobby-business and prove to yourself that it's a viable business idea. You'll learn how much money you need to get started, you'll set goals, and you'll plan how you'll market the business to your customers.

6.) Adopt A Business Mindset

A hobby is something you do at your leisure. When you make it a business, you must show up to work. Think of your hobby as your career and make it a priority in your life.

7.) Learn About Marketing

You can be the best in the world at what you do, but if you don't market your business, you'll never get customers. Read up on small business marketing and observe how similar businesses promote themselves. Set up a website for your new business and get comfortable using social media. Start making connections online and in your community.

8.) Create A Brand

Your brand is your business identity and what you'll be known for. A strong brand helps your loyal customers recognize you, just as people instantly know that golden arches mean McDonald's. Decide on a business name, logo, font, and/or color scheme that reflect your business's “personality" and use them consistently in your website, social media, and other marketing.

9.) Get Your First Customer

Your first customer will give you confidence in your business idea and will make it psychologically easier to market yourself. If necessary, do your first job for free in exchange for a nice review or testimonial.

10.) Have Your Finances In Order

You must report your business income and expenses on your tax return and pay quarterly estimated taxes. You may also be required to collect sales tax. The easiest way to keep your business finances straight is to set up a bank account for your business, to keep business and personal finances separate. Meeting with an accountant and investing in accounting software can help get you started on the right foot.

I just left a real estate office litterly skipping out the door. They came to mecto tell me "we think we are going to have to let you go" litterly I said, OK. The office was a husband and wife team. Ugh never recamended working as a personal assistant in someone's home. Its rough. Can't go any where talk or do anything. Bottom line they bragged how rich they were and how everyone was beneath them. Plus my favorite I live 1 block too far from the river. ( long story) I was good enoght to clean up the previous admins mess then cut my hours and I was treated like a 2nd class citizen.
