Beatrice G. Harvey

Well, I've been out of work since February of this year and have not found anything that I want. First of all I have 15 years of Assembly, Packing, Warehouse, Shipping and Receiving and can't find work. I don't know what these people want! Im so frustrated right now I don't know what to do. I collect unemployment benefits until the end, now they ran out, Im down to my last dollar, I need a job now! Im behind on my bills, I can't even eat, no gas for my car, can't pay rent next month, I might have to move out and live on the streets, I hope it doesn't come down to this! Really, Im in a bind right now!

Ghosting at it's best

So I've been sending my resume ALL OVER!primarily looking for stay at home jobs. So I'm approached by 3 separate companies promising me upfront money to create a mini office in my home equipped with laptop and a score of equipment and software. They went so far as to promise in an offer letter from the company $15 an hour to be trained for 2 weeks and a guarantee of $35 an hour once I immediately start working after the 2 wk training. They emailed me an offer letter, w4 and a front and back copy of a check for $2300 by capital one bank. Seemed to be legit. Until I had to begin my training the following morning, in which after 24 hours the check should have cleared and been ready for my large purchases of all kinds of equipment and software for my "home office" . Paid 3 week vacation, sick days, personal days, full expense account for incidentals, Gym membership, 2 vacations a year all expenses paid for myself and a guest to keep up morale. Who wouldn't want to work for the company, Awesome job so far, right? WRONG! However i have an awesome bank TD Bank, and they weren't going to let a bogus check and irregular activity my account go unnoticed. So they putt a freeze on my account for 10 days to authenticate the origin of the check. Long story short went to my bank and alerted them of my feelings, they told me the check didn't look quite right to alert the authorities. Btw, the company was quite annoyed and in shock as this had never happened to them before. They even told me someone who started training 3 days ago was already full time, Telling me my job was being compromised. Really putting pressure on my to cask that check. Almost forgot, they told me that since the funds were not available yet that if i could put up $200 for software that they would supply me with a useable laptop for my home. Upon return I alerted the company Babylon health, llc as to the banks findings and not only did they not respond they blocked me on Google hangouts. It's been 3 days haven't heard since. They are foreign, of Indian decent and always prefer to have an online interview trough Google hangouts, with names such as henry reed, Nick pedersen, luc Collins and Rebecca Ingram. But I'm sure they were all aliases. They also use web sites such as, ziprecruiter and monster to snag your resume. Be aware, if it seems too good to be true, it usually is. Terrible experience, but an experience nonetheless.

Reimbursement for fingerprint

I was recently required to do a some paperwork to complete in order to get hired for a job. This included fingerprinting, direct deposit information, mandated verification of no sexucal harrasment background, etc. I was under the impression once all this was finalized I would get some kind of acknowledgement or contact with the organization on the next step. Its been over a week since I completed the required documents and a week since the fingerprinting was done. I still have not heard anything. In addition, I had to pay for the fingerprinting test out of my own pocket. Should I contact the employer to see what the status of my starting work and am I going to get reimbursed for doing the fingerprinting? I am on little funds so the $40.00 I to pay for the fingerprint would come in handy.

Whisle blower Issues and effect on future employment prospects

I've twice now taken strong actions to protect both my and the general public's health and well being. Once in a medical capacity and then again in a private company that I had to file an OSHA complaint against when it would not stop doing what was happening. . I'm posting this so OTHERS that read it will realize that the whistleblower laws and protections do NOT work to stop either employer retaliation or to help you get going again once you've been active in fighting very serious workplace and public safety harms and conditions. . I've run gofundme's to attempt to get compensated for my personal losses that have happened since doing what I've done and not gotten one cent donated. So don't count on the general public to help you out even if you've saved them ALL from potential major harms. Companies have a much bigger budget to keep them from being held responsible than most people have to try to get going again. . I've never found any source of financial help to aid me in getting by until I can find other work. The funding is just NOT there for aiding people that have to address certain major issues because the companies have made a major effort to keep law enforcement from being able to make a case. Hell, some of the stuff I addressed was so well hidden if I did not act it would still be going on now...and probably forever. . Even years afterward the employers I've taken strong action against continue to give me bad job references. Black listing laws do NOT work because most employers require an employment application agreement AT application so that past employers can say whatever it is that they want and you can't do anything about it. And they call and interfere with my employment wherever else I've gotten a job. . So think carefully before you act. Your marital partner might leave you and all sorts of other things can happen too...and your entire life may be changed because of being a good steward of the public health and protecting innocent people from harms. . I've also periodically tried to find a wife that would allow me to help with an already operating business...but I guess my pleas fall into the basket of people asking for help and thus they do not get taken seriously. So that has been tried and it does not produce any results...either. . I'm soon going to have to sell my home and move because of what's been going on. . Learn from me and very carefully plan your next career moves very carefully. . I also suggest talking to a lawyer before taking any action so you do not get surprised like I did when the written laws are effectively ineffective.

How do I start an entrepreneur with nothing?

Once you have figured out what you want to do, here are some important things to keep in mind while starting your business from zero:

  • Research your market. ...
  • Set a tangible financial goal. ...
  • When you create a website, make the content shareable. ...
  • Build a list. ...
  • Launch a product or service you can sell.
