HI community, Memorial Day, a day to remember our troops, who served to protect our country and preserve our rights as American Citizens. Originally called Decoration Day.

https://www.history.com/topics/holidays/memorial-day-history

Personally, I thank God each and everyday that I live in America and I am American, there is no greater country to live in. Memorial day has been historically, citizens visiting cemeteries to honor veterans who have given their lives to protect our freedoms. I will not be adhering to tradition however. I plan on spending a quiet day at home, doing some odd jobs around the house and reflecting, not just on this country and it's hero's but on life overall. We will have a small cookout, weather permitting to welcome in the first day of summer. At this point, in Springfield, MA, doesn't look promising! I will also use this day as a personal day to look at some of the mistakes in my life that I have made and strive for self improvement, something that all of us could use on a continuous basis. Reminders of some of our faults and being honest about them along with working to change. Even if it does rain, it is going to be a great day. I sincerely hope the entire Jobcase community has a great day as well. Happy Memorial Day.

Before we all hit the beach, enjoy a BBQ or two (or three), and dive into the unofficial start of summer, we wanted to first take some time to pause, reflect, and talk about how we’ll be honoring our troops on Memorial Day. If you’d like to join us, post how you’ll be honoring our troops, and tag it with #HonorOurTroops. https://youtu.be/04WStS_DYwM

Memorial Day weekend is here, and it’s more than just the unofficial kickoff of summer. It’s a time to reflect and remember.

How will you be honoring the brave men and women who served this country? It could be a simple, “thank you” to a current or former service member. Perhaps it’s something more, like volunteering your time. Whatever it is you do, we want to hear about it!

Comment with how YOU will be honoring our troops, and tag it with #HonorOurTroops.

Hi everyone. Just a reminder that it is the Memorial Day weekend, and with that you can expect an even longer delay in hearing back from all those applications/resumes you submitted.

If you applied to any jobs this week, expect a delay and don't get down if you don't hear back before Tuesday at the earliest.

Like you, I do a cookout on Memorial Day with my family because Monday holidays off are the best, but it also kills me that my brother won’t be there. He was so young, just 19 when he served in Iraq. He didn’t make it home. Just like that life changed. Let’s all stop and think about our veterans this Monday because life really is precious. Any vets here on this site?? Thank you for your service, you are the real heroes.

Americans know what Memorial Day feels like – the joy of a parade, the relaxation of a backyard barbecue, the comfort of family and friends, and the thrill of knowing summer is just around the corner. It feels like the perfect expression of American freedom bottled up in one day.

And this is exactly why we should reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day. Because it’s really about grit and determination and courage and sacrifice. It’s really about men and women who gave everything, so that we can enjoy all of these precious things.

So before the band plays and the grill gets fired up, let’s stop and say – “Thank you. We will always remember.”

If there is someone you would like to honor today, please post their name here and tell us why they were special.

A new tradition with my family here in Boston is to go into Boston on Memorial Day wknd and pay respect to the 37,000+ men and women from Massachusetts who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the preservation of peace and freedom for my family and this country. Boston puts 1 flag in the big park in the middle of the city ("Boston Common") for every casualty of every war since the revolution in which a Mass resident has died. This is a somber holiday. This is an important holiday. As I type this I have daughters sleeping without any care that their lives or freedom could be threatened by a foreign threat, because they have total confidence that there are heroes in our military right now that ensure their lives, and our way of life, remains protected and defended. 37,000 from one state is huge. but the larger number far surpasses a million for our whole country. Staggering price for freedom. I cannot imagine the pain endured by the families and loved ones of these fallen heroes. But, I do hope they can imagine how appreciative my family is for the sacrifice and service.
I hope every Jobcaser is having a great 3 day wknd with their families and friends, but lets all please remember to take some time to reflect on what this day off is all about - remembering those that make our everyday freedoms -and our country itself -possible. Thank you, heroes. Thank you families of these heroes. God bless you and God bless America.

Let us not forget, on this Memorial Day, the many men & women who made the ultimate sacrifice so we can enjoy, prosper and live in free society. Always remember the following. It is the soldier, not the reporter who calls himself a journalist, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the university/college campus organizer, who has given us the right to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the ambulance chasing lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trail. It is the all those men & women in uniform, not the priest/pastor, who has given us the right to worship as we deem fit. It is the soldier, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote. It is those in uniform who salute and honor our flag, serves under the flag, writes a blank check for their life and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who gives the protestor the right to burn our flag. Always remember life without honor is no life at all you merely exist but you do not live. IN VALOR THERE IS ALWAYS HOPE. GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.
