ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN YOUR SELF-WORTH!
To add to my previous conversation "KEY TO SUCCEED"
A "Company" is as good as it's Structure, implemented Platform and the Performance of its "EMPLOYEES". If a "Company" is doing well and more than likely exceeding it forecasted revenue projection that it is safe to say all is very well. A "Company" is to be compared to the building of an exceptional building and the maintenance of it. The "Employees" are the building BLOCKS! Know your rightful place in the creation of such an establishment, and always remember to see yourself as an extremely valuable component.
Your Talents, Trade, Experience, and Knowledge is a Valuable Commodity! Where you decide to contribute these aspects of your "Being" to is your decision and mutually accepted when you were hired. Allow No One to Take that Knowing Away From YOU. This country does not strive on just one company there just happens to be many, and there is always somewhere else where you will be rewarded, and respected for your participation, diligence, dedication and hard work as well as all efforts made to contribute and give to the success of their company.

Resume
Since I’ve been with the same company for almost 29 years I really hadn’t updated my resume. I did so recently as I’ve been seeking other employment and applied for several jobs that I honestly thought I was almost perfect for, but never even got an interview. My aunt thought it was my resume, but I got one from a professional template. She and my uncle and cousin revamped my it but to me it looks boring, LOL. Just curious what templates people have used and if anyone knows what the best resume format is. Said they researched heavily in regards to font and placement of things. But it just looks almost like it’s from 20 years ago. Help! :)

Double Checking everything.
Maybe I'm just being a little OCD but it really drives me beyond crazy when I see posts, comments and texts that either have misspelled words or just make absolutely no sense. I don't pretend to be perfect I make mistakes too but it's like everything I read is incomprehensible. I double check everything I send. I've been in management and have helped with the hiring process at most of my jobs. A little tip guys would be to always check anything you're sending out. Most Managers will not even consider a person if there's mistakes on the app or their resume.

Be yourself and stay calm.
If I have any advice it would be never dive headfirst into a job without knowing what you’re getting yourself into. Know what the employer/employers are asking of you and what they require specifically. If any doubt don’t hesitate to let them know how you feel.

Dress to impress!
I have found in my job hunting experience, that dressing in a suit and tie (men) is a great way to set oneself apart from the pool of lrospective hires. Also, I’ve had friend since and acquaintances who are ladies who have had success with interviews due to wearing interesting pieces of attire, especially heels with interesting prints. Try it out ladies and gentlemen!

I got the job
I prepared myself very well by watching a webinar familiarizing myself about what employers expect. I hadn't been on an interview in 15 years. I interviewed one day the next day I got a call from the company making me a job offer. I go sign my papperwork Monday.

Have you checked your social media?
Here’s a tip for you guys. Fellow peers of mine (store managers), will look you up on instagram, and Facebook before they call you in for an interview. Sometimes they wouldn’t call applicants due to what they posted. So before you start applying, look at your social media outlets as one of your potential Managers. Good luck.

Are you a teen looking to kick-start your career? Consider Year Up!
Hey Teens!
Have any of you heard of #YearUp? Or even BETTER - is anyone here a graduate of #YearUp? I wanted to share a bit about my experience as a Year Up mentor:
What is Year Up? Year Up is a one-year program that helps teens and young adults gain skills, experience, and support that will empower them to reach their full potential in their professional careers or college.
The year consists of 2 parts: 1. Job-readiness classes like 'how to use Excel' and 'how to prepare and send out a resume’ 2. An internship at some pretty big-name companies! My mentee, Jordan, worked at John Hancock Financial. Some of his friends had internships at Harvard University and Fidelity Investments. This gave him great experience to put on his resume!
Why should you consider Year Up?
As a mentor, I worked with Jordan throughout his year at Year Up and witnessed first hand how life-changing this experience can be for teens! He went from having no work experience to graduating from the program and landing a great customer service job at Reebok.
Want to learn more? Visit their website today! https://www.yearup.org/
Feel free to ask me any questions, or share anything about your own #YearUp experience!

Support Our Toys R Us Jobcasers
Last week, Toys R Us announced its decision to close its doors. Our hearts go out to the current employees, as the company has yet to disclose the details. Right now, questions about severance, healthcare, and unemployment are swirling, and current employees are understandably frustrated, confused, and fearful for their futures.
That’s where we come in. So many of us can relate to how Toys R Us employees are feeling right now, because we’ve been there. We’ve started the Toys R Us Alumni group as a way to rally and support these employees by doing what Jobcasers do best: share your experiences, offer support and praise, and help kickstart their job search in any way.
Know someone who works at Toys R Us? Invite them to join the group, too! Each week, Jobcase will also be posting a special Next Steps kit of tools & tips created just for Toys R Us employees to help plan and prepare in the weeks ahead.
People helping people. It’s what the Jobcase community does every day with kind words, encouragement, and practical advice.
