Confused

This morning I went to a job fair after getting a phone call from a recruiter to go attend the job fair which stated on the job post $13hr forklift position starting which I sent a resume an applied for an when getting to the job fair the recruiter' s there representing the same company.those recruiters at the job fair told me a whole different pay scale an position from which I was there for even after telling them at the door who sent me an what position I was there for they tell me I have to work production before going to forklift which the pay is $8hr I never heard of such in my work career I didn't even know companies still pay so low these days I never made single digits I felt so insulted very confuse of how could companies lead people on and waste there time with false accusations

Let's Talk About Help Wanted

I decided to put my job search on hold until after the holidays and started looking around for job openings and hiring opportunities happening in January. I noticed a lot of job fair listings in and around my area. I’ve heard mixed reviews about finding job at these events so I’m a little bit skeptical and hesitant over investing too much time and effort preparing to go to one of these if it’s not going to get me the results I need. How can identify the best job fairs to attend and what can I do to help me prepare and make enough of an impression to get hired?

I need a job.... not just any job but a job with a future

I'm 53yrs old with a degree from University of Houston Downtown, with previous experience in law enforcement and have fill out over a hundred of applications, applied myself to career fairs and still coming up empty handed. The only jobs that are willing to interview or hire me are low paying jobs. Can a employer throw me a job life line.

Daunting Hiring Venue

Those hiring fairs are way too daunting. There must have been more than 300 people lined up to apply for the same job at the event I went to last week. That’s way too many people competing for the same job. Anyone have any strategies how to get to the top of the list at these venues?

Job Fairs

Job Fairs.

In your town/city, if there is a career center or some sort, there are always going to be job fairs there. In my state, I noticed at least one job fair a month. Check out the times when job fairs are, and when they are going to be in your area or near your area. Sometimes just googling it will bring up info about job fairs.

Job fairs are a good resource to make connections, to talk to people, to get a visual look at who's hiring as sometimes the companies that show up there don't tend to advertise online- they tend to do it by word of mouth and these fairs, and to hand over your resume. Make sure to clean up your resume, make sure it's on one page, and dress nicely and just go.

I went to a few when I was job searching, and while I didn't land a job with any of the companies that were represented, I made connections. I got a couple interviews.

Job fairs are worth it. Don't be afraid, don't hesitate.

I hope everyone is working hard on trying to find that one job, and those that are still struggling, don't give up. You will get hired. Just keep on going.
