I kept thinking it would get better and I tried so hard. They don't care about their employees.

Initially it was the challenge. The money wasn't TOO bad either. Not great. But when I realized the challenge was just going to turn into the grind... I turned the job into a learning experience instead of a career option. I stuck around to make sure I experienced the grind and results of a full fiscal year plus some to get the experience and see what if any rewards there are/were. The biggest problem with DG (and when I say problem I mean PROBLEM) is corporate sets you up to fail. They of course don't come out and say it... quite the opposite really. They make it seem like they have a lot of support available to you, and I guess emotionally there is? But they need to spend that money on upgrading their computer systems and registers in their stores. Overhauling their logistics system. And putting a little more cash into payroll wouldn't hurt. It's really hard to run a store with a payroll budget when the trucks are never on time AND NO ONE CAN TELL YOU WHEN ITS COMING OR EVEN WHERE IT IS! If a truck is late or not coming on the assigned day and they can't tell you where it is or when it is coming then you can't send anyone home in case it shows up... it would only make sense to budget more payroll hours for when it does get there correct? In 60 weeks of working for DG my primary truck arrived on the day it was supposed to 17 times. This means way more often than not the truck didn't even arrive on the day it was supposed to... and I can't remember a single time I called about this and they could tell me where my truck was or when it was going to arrive. This is just one of many ways they set you up to fail.
