Discrimination against protected workers...

My son has an intellectual and severe cognitive disability. When this company hired him, they knew this. The store manager retired after 44 years, and signed another manager.

Today my son went in, he was 15 minutes early, which you would think that would be punctual the manager went and threw a fit over it, demanded that he clocked in, and got verbal with him. My son explained you can't clock in the system won't let you. It won't override it, unless a manager goes through and overrides the cash register that he is on.

My son went out side the store, the manager physically chased him, tried to grab his phone, and tell ME his mom, I advocate for him, because at his age, that's all I can do. He still lives at home, I have a disability myself, and with him and hubby working, it helps out a lot!!! every bit helps out!!! He did his part he called back and demanded to speak to Yasia, yasia went off on him and said you're fired. He asked what reason. She stated for not clocking in 15 minutes early. Why??? the system won't allow it. They only targeted Nate, every one else that WASN'T clocked in was not verbally attacked. That's why I know they attacked him. Karen the manager, has done this now two times.

The first time my son was told that Karen didn't have the authority to fire anyone, so she called Yasia who is now the store manager, over Connie and said you're fired. Nate Demanded to know why he was fired, they refused to tell him. I'm sick and tired of how they target him, anyone else can sit down for 10 minute before they clock in and they don't have an issue. I give up!!! I don't understand how managers can get away with verbal abuse?

The Manager who said that he was fired for not clocking in early, physically made him cry, chased him out of the store, and he had to hide behind the dumpster, to get away from them, so that he would be able to wait for his ride home. She tried to take his cell phone, and said let me TELL WHAT REALLY HAPPENED. This lady is extremely immature. Punctuality is key to most employers, but if the system won't let you clock in, all she had to do was say hey, i'll override it, but she didn't have the authority to do so. So, he wouldn't off gotten paid for that. When someone came and picked him up, he finally calmed down. I know that Ohio is an at will state, but targeting someone that has a disability, this has happened before, per my previous post. What can be done???

He's registered with MRDD, so they provide the transportation. Which is awesome. I am filing a dispute with the labor board, and showing him how to apply for unemployment. I'm also going to HR because this manager has anger management issues, and HR won't do squat about it. If I go to the labor board??? is it possible that they could do something in reference to that??? like say, look at the camera's and see what happened???? They have cameras in the store. And I'm also showing him how to contact the labor board, as well. To see if they are in the right or is he in the wrong??? Please let us know if we have no rights, at all Thanks!!! Please don't be mean, i can't stand it when people pick on people with disabilities. It's not right!!!
