Crooked Contractors
I've been a contractor in aviation for over 10 years my first job and Alabama went great I was there for four years and then they decided to lay us off just before we were vested. After that I've been bouncing from job to job to job trying to find a permanent home. It's been going on for 3 years and it's a terrible feeling to know that you will be going to your next job and it probably won't last more than a month or three. During that time I was in contact with a representative of a contracting company who said they had worked for one of the Crooked companies and had told me some of the contractors had been taking on candidates getting them hired for 2 to 3 months. After their fee had been collected had them fired by the company and then reinstating them into a new contract so that they may make more money off the candidate and intern wrecking their resumes. Usually because they made great money. I've heard this more than once. I think this is terrible if you heard anything like that please let me know. Thank you

Beware of Amazon bait and switch....
Awhile back, I applied for an Amazon flex driver position. It is a delivery driver for their new fresh grocery warehouse. Drivers can make their own hours similar to uber, etc. I got an email recently with a "contingent offer" based on drug and background check. I scheduled a so called hiring event to fill out paperwork and find out more about the position. Even though the location was about an hour away, I was still interested because it seemed like a good opportunity. The only thing that stood out as odd was the hourly pay, which I thought was significantly more when I saw the ad and applied.
Anyway, I arrived at the Amazon fresh warehouse with about a dozen others. The manager acted like she owned Amazon. She kept stating "my warehouse, my people", etc. She was only referring to the part time warehouse associate position, which was a lot less pay then the driver position. Everyone there was applying for the same position. I asked her about the driver position and her response was she didn't need any more drivers now and she won't hire more until probably October or November. I stated that I applied for the driver position and she acted like it was a take it or leave it situation. I was really annoyed by this and felt like I wasted my time. Also, it was only supposed to be an hour event, but turned into 3 hours. If I wanted to be a driver, I would have to wait 3 months in the warehouse position to apply for the transfer or just wait for the position to open up again and apply. Has anybody else been in a similar situation with Amazon?

My advice to people interested in working at #LockheedMartin as a #Contractor ...
If you're looking to work for a big and important company such as Lockheed Martin, just know that they're very intuitive about supervision during your training phase. One small slip and they will not go easy on you for it. I was terminated for inspecting work, and since it wasn't listed as a job duty I was terminated.

My advice to people interested in working at #Alameda as a #Laborworkerforconstructioncompany ...
Its a hard working job i was a contractor there and the only reason i stopped going is cause i didnt have transportation

My days at Chem Trans
Chem Trans can be a good place to work. But it has to many chiefs and not enough Indians. We are in dyer need of a experience sell person that have knowledge of transportation industry in bulk chemical field. Also a good plant Manger that also know the industry. Someone that is intrested growing the company. I started here in 1995 and they got me stared as a O/O so I feel some kinda way towards Chem Trans for that. They help me to becomea better business man and grow in the industry that I love and very passionate about. #ChemTrans #Contractor

Too much contracting???
I was told today that my credentials are stellar however, I contracted too much to ever be considered for a full-time position. Company refered to my contacting from end 2007-2013...did they not know what the economy was doing then??? I contracted for one company and lasted longer than 2 of the full time people they HIRED after me. So, now I am too old ( in 60s) and I contracted too much.

Temp Agency
Hi Nichol!
First of all don't get excited about the blessing of something coming to you. Believe me, I know it can be a challenging task finding a job of your interest. Giving up is not the answer to success! The experience your getting from your individual efforts will bring growth, and you'll know it by your diligence.
Temp agencies can be to your advantage of picking up more skill, and the grand opportunity of kicking off your career with a company that supports growth, and they value their employees through a reward system. You have to just stay focus on where you are going by choice of interest, and block out negativity. Now! by what I have experienced with the temps, is you have to screen the best agencies for the field of interest you will enjoy, and that agency will need to be working for you as well. I have had some to call me for jobs that are not specific to my interest, just to fill that order, no matter what your experience or training is. You have to be specific for choosing that agency who specializes in you career interest. Don't get discouraged that I mention to you that some employers, don't give a hoot, they will sell you a dream about their company's intent to hire you in a certain period time, but when their work load has been met for their demands, and things are back to normal, they will end your assignment, and you are back to the ground floor for starts. So, keep your search open in the market, as you may be still temp waiting on permanent employment with that active client. Make the best of what comes available!
