US job seeker from South Africa

Hi! There. Actually I am in South Africa and have been trying to get job in US. I have extensive casino work experience (croupier). There are job positions and I have made applications. But I cannot seem to get anywhere with it. The thing is that I need to get a job offer first.

My advice to people interested in working at #Casino ...

I would say do not work at a casino. There are only a few casinos where the dealers make good money. The other casinos it is a grind to eke out $70-$80 dollars in tokes. It is such a grind dealing $5 or $10 games,no big action thus no big money.

My advice to people interested in working at #JACKEntertainment as a #TableGamesDealer ...

You have to be thick-skinned. Working with the public definitely is one of the most difficult jobs ever. You have protocols to follow for each game that you deal, have to be aware of your surroundings, tolerate dust and loud noise, protect your bank of cheques, and of course, put up with the loud drunk obnoxious patrons who think they are privileged to everything imaginable. They are a guest at the casino; but, most of the time they want you to respect them and you never receive any respect in return. It is challenging to stay 'upbeat and positive' 100% of the time. The best part of working at the casino is getting to know your fellow dealers and making some great long-term friendships.

Experience

With no actual "experience" in a casino setting I'm having no luck getting my foot in the door. I'm a quick learner, and ppl gravitate to my genuine friendly personality, also my resume shows I live to work hard...what am I doing wrong?
