Question
So I've been at my job since the beginning of July. We have a very high turnover rate and I was looking to get atleast full time since I'm currently part time. Well my Store Manager was pushing for me to get that position but a hold was put on it because we were getting a new District Manager. We were without a new DM for about a month and then my Manager told me he was pushing it through once again since the new DM was assigned. Well I had worked with the new DM once at one of our other locations instead of my home store and at the time he was trying to get me to come work at the location he was at because he like my work ethic. I did my job and I helped out other places when needed. Well after he became the new DM he spoke to me about my Manager pushing for full time for me and I told him yes I was looking forward to that. He said that I needed to improve my attendance. Understandable but that's all he stated. Well as of yesterday I'm informed that I'm not able to get full time because the DM doesn't approve of my appearance. I work around car parts and change batteries and bulbs and get grease on my uniform. Due to me doing my job he says that my uniform disqualifies me from full time. Also he doesn't want me representing the company because of that. I'm thinking of going to HR about this. What should I do? Any ideas on how to handle this issue?

My experience at Conduent was super nice! The management were most are young and professionals and take pride about their jobs. I was really encouraged and motivated to be part of this company. You must follow rules and listen carefully. They really strive to help you make it and prepare you well for the job. I would recommend certainly this company. Everyone is friendly and professional and take the job seriously. It is a federal job! It must be taken serious!. To answer the top question: Business attire. It gets super cold and although, they have their jean days and casual days once you are in. You need to present yourself as a professional. There are times the top supervisors come to visit and they want to see and know we are professionals.
