Why on earth does Arby's ask for year of high-school graduation unless to openly practice age discrimination? Why is one's social security number required on Arby's application?

I obtained my information from the online Arby's employment application. Many employment applications contain questions designed to determine how old the applicant might be without openly discriminating based on age. The question should be are you over 18 (to determine whether one may operate the meat slicer), not what year did you graduate high-school. I refuse to give my social security number to anyone who does not require same (and my SSN is not required unless I'm hired). As to your point about the 19 year old in the liquor store, etc. I fail to understand the laws that won't allow a 19 year old to SELL liquor either. It's not as if they're drinking it.
