What should I expect on my first day working as a Administrative Assistant?

You should start with a notepad and pen, take notes, ask alot of questions. Learn fax #'s and your extension, email and those who can provide information you don't know yet.

On your first day as an Administrative Assistant, you can expect to receive an orientation to familiarize you with the office, meet your coworkers, and get an overview of your responsibilities. Be prepared to learn new processes, software, and procedures. Don't hesitate to ask questions and take notes. Remember to stay organized and prioritize your tasks. Good luck! Excellent advice is given here. Take it all in stride. You'll do very well.

Be prepared to have a heavy workload. You will have multiple tasks. Perhaps some you might feel are inappropriate, but you will be expected to fulfill them. You may be required to work for multiple executives. They will expect you to have multi-tasking capabilities. Don't complain about this feature, just do the best you can, as multi-tasking largely prevents one from finishing everything by the end of the day. You may be a rare one, however. Enjoy your new journey.

Take notes. Ask follow-up questions. Don't assume that people & procedures will be like your previous jobs.

On my first day, first dress professionally while arriving early than late. Take lots of notes while learning hands on. Ask questions and possible give suggestions.
Treat all with respect. Be grammatically correct — it’s “on my first day working as AN Administrative Assistant,” not “a.” The seeming littlest things may strike a wrong chord.
