What training do I need to get qualified for a Driver job?
I drive for Brevard County driving senior's to shopping, and appointments. No special license was required, just safety demonstration and vehicle orientation. I have a clean record. While living in Michigan I drive 40’ Luxury Motorhomes for Holland Motor homes all over the USA. I don’t smoke, drink, or do drugs !!
Thank you !

If you want to advance to larger commercial vehicles or even school buses, you will need a CDL. There are training schools around that will train and qualify you .

You need logged hours of service. Some places require from 6 mo. to 2 yrs otr experience. Or you can come out of a commercial driving school and get hired but usually you got to go out with someone until trained b4 you can go on your own.

Know where you’re going, follow directions and practice safety for everyone not just for yourself

Dave, unless a CDL or other specific license is a requirement, that's an impressive list of qualifications for most Driver jobs. I work as a seasonal Driver for UPS & Uber part time currently & you have a great advantage with the experience you have. The 3 main things company's require 99% of the time is a clean driving record, able to pass a background & drug screen, & time management (logistics). The 1st two you are good. The time management & logistics experience is covered perfect in all areas by your experience driving seniors to scheduled locations on time. It also covers any driving experience, customer service skills, & the safely training on top of the rest! In my opinion & experience, those add up to a top hire. If a CDL or training is needed, most would help you obtain what's needed. The experience driving 40 ft motor homes nationwide will make the decision to hire, certify, & train you less of a risk and more of an investment. You can pretty much choose the company. UPS or any limo service , etc., would hire you immediately. If UPS interest you I can refer you to speed up the process. Sorry for the novella & hope that was helpful. I'm in Brevard, let me know if you'd like the UPS referral. I'm pretty sure you could choose what department, local, state,ot national! Have a great night

It sounds like you already have valuable experience driving both seniors and luxury motorhomes across the country. To further enhance your qualifications for driver jobs, you may want to consider obtaining a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) if required by certain employers. Additionally, you could take defensive driving courses to improve your skills and safety practices on the road. Keep an eye out for driver opportunities on Jobcase and other job search platforms like Indeed, ZipRecruiter, and LinkedIn. Good luck with your job search!

Driven in all weather some big cities, highways rural

If it is a diesel then I don't qualify, but if it is a box truck, then I can drive it with no problems.I have been driving for over thirty years

First of all, is this a diesel, or is it a box truck? If it is a diesel, then I will have to say that I will not qualify. But if it's a box truck and I don't have to have a CD l. I\n Can drive it with no problem? I have been driving for over 30 years.

It is dealing with the customer and the car while driving.
It depends on the job. If you want to Drive the BIG TRUCKS you’ll probably have to start by going OTR which means Over The Road to get experience. Depending on the company many have training programs the help you get your CDL. I started before CDL’s I learned the hard way, was put into a TRUCK with very little experience. Anyway a lot of carriers have Regional Jobs so your home every week and others every other weekend. I drove Long Haul gone 2-4 weeks and I loved it enough that I did 40 years with around 5 million miles driven!! Or you can pay out of pocket and go to a Driving School. Most companies for a local position usually go for experienced Drivers and 1 from their company. Good Luck if you choose Long Haul like I said I loved it!!
