Truck Driver at Sewell Motor Express

Is this your first driving job? You will have to be drug free, Usually no more than 2 or 3 at the most minor driving violations. Usually no criminal charges, Job history back to 10 years. Be able to speak English and be able to read English language. You have to be able to pass the DOT Physical. Take a driving road test with the company rep. Must have a Class A or B depending on the type of truck you are driving. HazMat, endorsements are not always wanted but lots of companies still want you to have it. Doubles and Triples endorsement is helpful. Being retired from the trucking industry after driving 26 1/2 years, I wouldn't not even think about driving again. Main reason, No RESPECT from hardly anyone, DOT are always causing problems. Not all DOT's employees are bad. Go find you another field to get get into. Something a whole lot easier on your mine, body and soul

Cdl Driver at Swicegood Trucking

Quite a few things. Time of day you'll start. Type of trailer you'll pull (I HATE REEFERS). How frequently you'll get home to spend time with your wife and kids. Drop & hook ... or Driver Unload? General geographic area in which you'll operate. Toll card or you pay for tolls, then wait to be reimbursed? Does fuel card pay for a new headlight, oil or anti-freeze? I've been a driver for 28-plus years. I do things more by habit than by actively thinking about moving the vehicle down the road. I advise you get a good trucker's GPS; one for an automobile may take you down roads that are not legal for trucks. Get your own dashcam so YOU have a record of any accidents in which you may be involved-- and USE IT every time you head out the gate.

Over the road regional hazmat truck driver

Depending on what your looking for otr regional home daily etc. The response bill Northcutt is correct but I'll add to it. If your looking otr or regional u may want to know where they go abd not go. If they call u in fir an interview never bring up pay ir when you get paid let them do that. Listen to what they have to say amd ask questions from there. He's right hazmat and tank and twic r good to have and some places pay extra for that but you got to do ur research on who does and doesn't Depending on freight hauled. You need to know average miles weekly wethere ur otr ir regional, reefer or dryly box, flatbed, tank etc. Ins like to k ow who the carrier is amd how much for u and or family if it applies. Keep in mind if tge ins is highly expensive u could be ins poor basically meaning your working for the ins which is not good as it helps to know that so again if called in for interview let them bring it up than ask. Long term short term disability life ins etc. That's alot
