What's the biggest challenge of a Assistant Manager job?
Professional and understanding

Organizing tasks and events to ensure things run smoothly. Managing manpower and being patient with different people/ personalities.

Being able to learn to do the managers job getting paid ASM pay. You have to realize that you have to aquire the knowledge and experience while your the assistant. Sometimes that means doing things outside your job description.

Doing the manger's dirty work or picking up the slack of your team. You have to be patient an open minded cuz the lessons never end. But we'll make u even a better in leadership in the end.

It really depends on how good the manger is. If you have a good manger then learn all you can from them and also your staff. Remember your staff has a lot of knowledge about day to day running of the company and many times if you listen they can make your job easier. Now if you have a bad manger then make sure to keep a journal of day to day operations. Your work load will be bigger then what it should be and make sure you do everything to company standards no matter what they tell you.

For me, the hardest part of being an assistant manager has never been the workload or even being the bridge between leadership and frontline staff. Those challenges come with the territory. The real challenge has been learning how to coach upward when necessary. There are times when your direct manager may be overwhelmed, unprepared, or still developing certain leadership skills. In those moments, the assistant manager has a choice: criticize, get frustrated, or step in and help elevate the person above you while still honoring the chain of command. It’s not talked about much, but coaching up is an essential leadership skill. Because when your manager grows, the team grows. And when the team grows, everyone wins

To always try to be better than your manager Learn from their mistakes

Learning which responsibilities you should be doing yourself vs. the General Manager taking advantage of your work ethic and giving you all of their duties.

A assistant manager is the managers right hand. There is no position better than another. But assistant manager should know everything the manager knows. And if you're manager is good at what they do hopefully she/or he is showing you everything and preparing you to be manager.

To keep the right balance between the team's need and the expectations of the higher manager.
Being the Voice of the People upward and the voice of Corporate downward.
