Shift Supervisor Spot Trainer at Artisanal Expressions Inc

Hey Presley. Common question. Many places don't require experience as they train you from the ground up. Some shops require previous expertise.

Most 2nd wave shops (Peet's, Starbucks, Coffee Bean) would be a starting point. But 3rd Wave shops like Caffe Luxxe don't require experience either and train from the ground up.

My recommendations: 1) Reach out to various coffee shops via their website and express your interest in applying and if it's possible with no prior coffee-making background 2) Regardless: Knock'em dead with WHO you are when you introduce yourself. If you exhibit your best qualities, are kind, genuine, and genuinely express your interest in working and what you CAN bring to the table, it might open up more opportunities to you than you think.

Good luck!

They do all in store training on little recipe cards for each drink. Start by learning what drinks are hot or cold, different types of espresso, different ways to brew a standard cup of coffee.

Learn the different ways to make coffees; latte, cappuccino, etc. Watching YouTube videos or go into your fav coffee shop and watch the barista.

  1. Learn about coffee: Familiarize yourself with different types of coffee, brewing methods, and popular drinks.

  2. Practice at home: Invest in a coffee maker or espresso machine to practice making drinks.

  3. Update your resume: Highlight any relevant skills such as customer service or food service experience.

  4. Apply for entry-level positions: Look for barista positions that require no experience, such as at local coffee shops or cafes.

  5. Consider training programs: Some coffee chains offer training programs for aspiring baristas.

  6. Network: Connect with current baristas or coffee shop owners to learn more about the industry.

  7. Utilize job search platforms: Check Jobcase, Indeed, and other job search providers for barista job openings.

Remember, enthusiasm and willingness to learn are key qualities for starting a barista job with no experience. Good luck!
