How can I show interviewers I'm ready for a Driver job?
Hi Shawn, I have only driven in the military and one other company. The best thing for most stay drug free, have a valid license for the job, expect to have a valid medical certificate( provided by DOT Physical), expect them to ask about recent moving violations and tickets. Most driving positions whether CDL or not will require your MVR, so be prepared to explain any violations at the interview. Some will request your over the road hours usually in the past 5 years, others may ask for up to 10 years depending on the company. Be honest because if you aren't the company will find something and that could ruin your chances for hire. Good luck!
Shawn, interviewers aren't interested in plaques, certificates, or even great conversation, they want to see a clean driving record, and a willingness to go above and beyond the parameters dictated by requirements of the job. If you're an unhappy person you'll be an unhappy employee, dress for the job not a night out, be on time and be neat and professional, and take notes,this will impress your interviewers. Be prepared to answer basic traffic law type questions. Also it helps to check out the mission statement or values of the company you are interviewing with to make sure they align with yours. You don't want to end up a great driver in a toxic environment.

Typically when a company is interested in you or has the time to interview you they should do a driver's road test on in the commercial truck.
