There are really two responses for this question; the first, bakery skills and experience can be obtained at any culinary arts program. Many programs offer intense and accelerated courses that develop acumen and a solid repertoire in as little as 3 months. The second response is that the only 2 requirements for fot any position are average skills and ability to complete the job tasks required and your complete confidence in your ability to perform those tasks at an above average level of expectation. Nailing the interview is the necessary skill to get any job regardless of practical experience although building an album of your baking successes and viable, tried and true recipes can speak volumes. Best of luck… btw… in my experience successful baking is more about planning and careful testing and execution of route tasks than heavily dependent on skills.

Assistant Store Manager at Goodwill

I went to culinary school but every baker I hired had no experience. Most grocery stores are desperate enough to find someone who is willing to start their shift between midnight and 4am that they are willing to train on the job.
