I would wait a day or two then call and ask for the hiring manager. Tell them your very interested in working for Safeway.

Personally, right after I had the interview they had me start the hiring process and told me when to come in for training.

After your initial interview give it a week if you have not been contacted give the administrative assistant a call explain your situation who you are and the position you are applying for.
