Would you work for a company with a bad reputation if the pay was excellent?

I just accepted a job offer last week. When I was doing some research to fill out the onboarding paperwork, I saw some negative comments about toxic work environment. I start next week but I'm getting a little anxious. I don't have any alternatives than this job but I'll definitely be on top of my toes.

This totally happened to me before. The company was just as bad, if not worse than the negative comments online. But I still managed to stay there for three years. You won't always be in the dream job situation so you gotta make the best out of what you have now. Remember it is just a job. Take your mental health first and don't get too consumed. That's how I made it through and I'm glad I took the challenge. It definitely made me a stronger professional!

I have worked for a company with a bad reputation. I believe you need to find out for yourself. I found out it was a fact what was being said. After much thought I decided to stay. I was in a Management position so I put forward rules to change many of the rules considered bad. I also became friendly with other companies that had a poor opinion of this company and created more business opportunities. After working with this company and changing it reputation I was let go with the excuse they were down sizing. I am disappointed but not sorry.

The best thing to do is go in with an open mind until you get there for yourself it easy to read a book by its cover, however you will not know the story until you read the book, just my thoughts do not be put off by negativity go and see for yourself you may love the company and have some good ideals do not get drawn into office politics stay clear of that. and good luck with your new job fresh start.

There’s nothing wrong with sharing your concerns with your upcoming supervisor and allowing them the opportunity to reassure you. The job may have been open because some of the toxic employees have been termed. Also, keep in mind that many people post negative comments because they have been termed and it’s the only way (in their mind) to fight back. Finally, you are a majority of one and you can bring enough light and positivity to shift the culture. I wish you phenomenal luck and success! Go get ‘em!

As long as the reason isn't too egregious. Some people can have unreal expectations on a company.

i was in the military over 13 years. the military lied about using agent orange on all military base om us and overseas pure strenth and the b-29 with a plutonim bomb off okinawa . that is toxic. I found its best to make it clear that this crap is out of line and does nothing to make work envoirnment better. some people no matter what cna be in the same room with out trying to be the alpha no matter what. it was in bomb squad i came straight for school to r and d with out being in a field unit. i got things done in a buiness manner. my daughter took over a catering service and with my help is the best as well as wedding in several states.

Hey @Jada Howard 👋🏼 welcome to Jobcase community. ✨

Since you don't have any other options for jobs, I recommend you take the job and give it a chance. You may always keep looking for a job if you aren't satisfied with it.

Good luck, and don't stress yourself out based on comments. Everyone has a different approach and attitude.
