
What should I know before I interview for a Customer service job?

Look at people in their eyes . Talk with them not 2 them.

Customer friendly voice, good listener, sincere desire to assist. Technical/Customer support background .

Punctuality, good, active listening, and friendly interaction with others are your strong personality traits. Everything else, you will learn quickly as the company equips you to succeed.

Research the company’s mission, values, products/services, and customer base. Understand their customer service philosophy. Communication, patience, empathy, active listening, Note-taking and conflict resolution.

Be prepared to not point but get in a good habit of actually taking the customer to the product in question and if you cannot help them directly then ask them to kindly please continue shopping while you go find somebody who can remember it's not just necessarily about telling the customer about particular products it's about taking them to it showing it to them and helping them make the correct decision for what they want

Customer service equals resolution which means to always be polite in assisting a person . And to take your time with the customer.

✅ 1. Understand the Role**
Review the job description. Make sure you have the knowledge and the skills that are required to do the job
✅ 2. Know the Company**
Do some basic research:
- What does the company do?
- Who are their customers?
- What are their values (often listed on the company’s website)?
- Review any employee testimonials
✅ 3. Review Common Interview Questions**
You’ll likely be asked:
"How do you handle a difficult customer?" “Tell me about a time you went above and beyond for a customer. “What does good customer service mean to you?" “How do you prioritize multiple customer requests?" 🥰

Have examples ready to show how you’ve demonstrated these.
✅ 5. Be Ready to Role-Play
Some interviews include scenario-based role-plays, such as:
- Handling a complaint
- Explaining a product to a confused customer
- Calming down an angry caller
✅ 6. Emphasize Tech & Tools Experience** If you've used:
CRM systems (Salesforce, Zendesk) Call center tools (Five9, RingCentral) *Microsoft Office email platforms Be sure to mention that — it’s a plus.

- Care about helping people
- Stay calm under pressure
- Can represent their company in a positive way
✅8. Ask Smart Questions
When they ask “Do you have any questions for us?”, consider asking:
"What does success look like in this role?"
"What are the biggest challenges your customer service team faces?"
"What tools or systems platforms do you Use.

Be ready to answer questions like...'tell me about a time you had an angry customer and how you resolved their issue' ' tell us about a time you saved your employer from losing a customer '.... Basically be ready to sell yourself. Having the i'm required qualifications needed, it's definitely a plus. During an interview always stress you are customer focused. Also please you mention all programs and systems you are familiar with. I recently had an interview in which I moved to the top of the list due to the fact I am very well versed in a program the company uses internally. I hope this helps you
