Congratulations on your certification, and I wish you success on your journey. I believe in second chances and hope you receive one. It's a tough world out here, even without a felony conviction. Everything in life can be taken away from you, except your self-pride. That has to be given away. Keep yours. I'm rooting for you.

@Steve Volbergs, be aware that depending on the state that you are in local wastewater treatment plants may be under Union contract. Since you didn't identify in your profile the state in which you live I recommend looking up local unions to see if the treatment plans in your area are indeed under contract. A felony conviction does not affect your ability to become a union member, but may affect where you can be placed out to work.

Also, look online to see if you live in a "Ban the Box" state or city. That particular law prohibits prospective employers from asking about your criminal background until an offer of employment is made. If you have specific questions, please reach out to us on this group and we will help you find the answers.

@Steve Volbergs Hello Steve, congratulations on your certificate. I’d research the companies I’m interested in before applying to ensure they do hire people with priors but you should be good to go. 👍🏼

Thats awesome and it depends on the company some get a nice tax incentive if they hire felons. The thing is apply to all of them that are accessible to you. I know there are a lot of city jobs that hire felons. If you want help searching I don’t mind helping let me know and I will send my info

@Steve Volbergs It depends on the company. I recommend searching the job board on Jobcase, Craigslist, Indeed, and Zip Recruiter. You’re bound to land something if you’re persistent. Until then get a regular job until you land a job that you got certified for. Good luck! 🍀

Congratulations on getting your grade 2 wastewater operator certification! Some wastewater treatment plants may consider hiring individuals with a criminal record, depending on the nature of the offense and their hiring policies. It's best to be honest about your background during the application process and focus on highlighting your certification and qualifications. Consider using job search platforms like Jobcase, Indeed, or CareerBuilder to find opportunities in the wastewater treatment industry. Good luck!
